THIS SATURDAY’S BUILDING TRADES NIGHT AT TOYOTA SPEEDWAY AT IRWINDALE FEATURES A SEVEN RACE SCHEDULE INCLUDING THE EIBACH SPRINGS 100 SUPER LATE MOD

IRWINDALE, California — This Saturday (September 26) is Building Trades Night at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale and all members of the building trades who show their identification card at the Speedway ticket office will be admitted for free. Youngsters 12 years of age and under will also be admitted for free.

A busy seven race schedule makes up Saturday evening’s NASCAR Whelen All-American racing action featuring the EIBACH Springs 100-lap Super Late Model race, Langers Juice S2 25-lap race, Legends cars 35-lap race, Justice Brothers Mini Stocks 35-lap race, an ASA Speed Trucks Challenge race, a Classic Stocks 30-lap race and a Classic Stocks Figure 8 race.

While the EIBACH Springs 100 is the season finale for the ACDelco Super Late Model series, the race is open to all Super Late Model, All-American and Southwest Tour type cars and will run in accordance with the 2009 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series rule book and the 2009 TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale Super Late Model Stock Car division rule book. The race purse includes a $5,000 payout to the winner and is expected to attract a number of competitors who will use it to prepare for the January 29-30, 2010 NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown Super Late Model race. Several competitors are expected to compete including Nick Joanides of Woodland Hills who recently clinched his second consecutive ACDelco Super Late Model division championship, won the NASCAR Whelen All-American California State Championship and finished third in the NASCAR Whelen All-American National standings.

The new Langers Juice S2 division returns to action on Saturday for its sixth race of the seven race schedule. Randel King of Riverside has dominated the action winning four of the races and leads the division point standings with 246 points. Andrew Anderson of Lancaster is in second place with 228 points.

With two Legends cars races remaining in the season, Ryan Reed of Bakersfield leads the division championship standings with 650 points including a 74-point lead over fellow Bakersfield resident Brandon Toy who occupies second place with 576 points. While Reed and Toy have swapped the top spot on a number of occasions during the season, another Bakersfield resident in Dallas Montes has been dominate in recent competition winning the last four consecutive races.

Two races remain on the Justice Brothers Mini Stocks schedule and Daryl Scoggins of Sunland leads the division championship standings with 486 points including a 56 point cushion over Tyler Rogers of Riverside who is in second place with 430 points. Both drivers have set the pace during the season with Scoggins finishing in the top three in every race including five wins while Rogers has four victories.

The ASA Speed Truck Challenge returns to action on Saturday night with a two-way tie for the series points lead between Joey Licata and Randel King who will have competed in the S2 race earlier in the evening. Rookie of the year candidate Jeremiah Wagner has won the previous two races at the Speedway this year.

Division points leader Ken Michaelian of Lawndale (498 points) holds a 50-point lead over Tommy Agosta of Chino (448 points) in the Classic Stocks division point standings. Three races remain on the schedule including a twin bill on Saturday night with the first race on the third mile oval and the second race on the figure 8 course. Michaelian has been near perfect winning every race except on May 9 when Agosta scoring the victory.

Spectator gates open and qualifying gets under way at 4 p.m. The King Taco fan appreciation autograph session is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. with drivers, crews and race cars on the oval track. The first race begins at 7 p.m.

Test and Tune drag racing takes place each Thursday evening with gates opening at 4 p.m. and competition at 5 p.m. It costs $20.00 to race and $10.00 to watch and kids five and under get in free.
