BAKERSFIELD, California — The Dominator" Brad Pounds drove his MMI Side Biter Scott Pounds Racing IMCA
to it's 14th win of the season Saturday Night. The 24 year old Pounds started in the
11th position on the starting grid and quickly moved through the field. By the 3rd lap he was running 2nd.
On lap 5 he took the lead and powered away for his 6th win at Bakersfield Speedway in the IMCA
Modifieds this year. When pounds was asked about the race, he said," The car was on rails, it was fast."
Brad Pounds finished 2nd in points to Gary Dutton who won his 3rd consecutive IMCA
Championship at Bakersfield Speedway. Pounds had missed some races in the series. This
makes it 119 career wins for Pounds. He is 2nd in points in the California IMCA State Championship and 7th
in points for the western region.
Pounds finished 2nd and his father finished 3rd in the IMCA modified race last week at Santa Maria
Speedway. They were both driving Side Biter Scott Pounds Racing cars. The week before that Brad Pounds
was racing in Boone, Iowa in the IMCA Nationals. Pounds was close but did not make the main event. He
finished 3rd in his first qualifier and they took 2. He finished 2nd in his qualifier for the last chance heat
race. Then he finished 7th in the last chance and they took the first 5. There were over 300 cars there.
Brad Pounds started his racing career at Bakersfield Speedway at the age of 14 in the Hobby Stock Division.
He won his first race in the Hobby Stock Division on his fourth race. Pounds has two championships
during his career. Brad Pounds father was the 1994 National IMCA Champion and owns Scott Pounds
Racing where Brad works.
Pounds next race at the Bakersfield Speedway will be October 9th and 10th for the BUD NATIONALS.
