MIRA LOMA, California — Scott Dodd in his #25 NASCAR Jackson Super Late Model had a weekend full of ups and downs at Toyota Speedway At Irwindale this weekend. During both practice sessions Dodd was at the top of the charts, fastest in the second session and second fast in the first session. Dodd had hoped he would find himself in the same position after qualifying, but a bad adjustment made the car ill handling and he found himself starting in the 7th position.
The 100 lap race started with a yellow on the first lap and a complete restart. After the restart Dodd decided to settle in and run with the front group of cars. The car was loose so Dodd tried to just take care of his tires and hold out until a yellow to make adjustments or wait for the final laps before starting his move to the front. Scott realized he needed to make a change to the car or it was not going to get better unfortunately the next yellow did not come out until lap 67 of the 100 lapper. The track was counting yellow flag laps so it was important to have a good pit stop and get back out onto the track without losing a lap. The crew prepared for Dodd to pit for the chassis adjustment and everything went well and Dodd returned to the track at the rear of the field. The green flag restarted the race at lap 73 so Dodd had 26 laps to move from back of the pack as for forward as he could before the checkered flag. The adjustment turned out to be the right call and helped Dodd move through the pack even though he had to be careful as the right rear tire had been used up just getting to the yellow and with a few laps to the checkered Dodd found himself well within the top ten, in the last few laps Dodd was able to pass a few more cars and finish in the 5th position.
