
BAKERSFIELD, California — Six former champions of the NASCAR Elite Division Series and the SRL Southwest Tour Series have submitted entries for the Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series “NTS, Inc 125” at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on October 10th.
Over 30 SRL drivers are expected for the Irwindale 125 lap event, six of which are former Southwest Tour Series champions, including;
Craig Raudman, the 2001 NASCAR Elite Division Southwest Tour Series champion, who had 29 poles and 17 wins in Elite Division competition and was runner up in the 2008 Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series championship.
Eddy McKean, the 2002 NASCAR Elite Division Series champ, from Jerome, ID, with five wins in 79 Southwest Tour starts.
Auggie Vidovich, the 2003 NASCAR Southwest Tour champion with 90 career starts, 55 top 10’s and 11 wins.
Jim Pettit II, the reigning Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series champion also scored the NASCAR Elite Division Series title in 2004 and 2005.
Rip Michels won the series title the final year of the NASCAR Elite Division Series in 2006, and has four Toyota Speedway championships.
The sixth former tour champion is the 2007 Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series champ Dave Byrd, who has over 300 main event wins in his racing career.
Part of the schedule of events at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on October 10th, will be a special ‘Race of Champions’ featuring these six former ‘tour’ series champs. “To have six former regional touring champions in one race is unheard of, so we thought we would highlight those champions with a special race to start off the evening at 7pm sharp.” stated Toyota Speedway Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Bob DeFazio.
“It says a lot about our series to have this many past champions competing in the SRL,” stated defending SRL champion and 2-time NASCAR tour champion, Jim Pettit II. “I have been racing in the tour for a long time, and I never seen this many tour series champions at one race.” Pettit added.
The October 10th schedule of events at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale will also feature; Legend Cars, Classic Stocks, Langers Juice S2, Jan’s Towing Bandoleros and the headlining Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series “NTS Inc. 125”. It is also Family Night at Toyota Speedway – Kids 15 and under admitted free, hot dogs and soft drinks just $1.
