COTTAGE GROVE, Oregon — It is one challenge to travel to different tracks for a driver and a team. But for a driver who is on a different track the majority of the time as well as running dirt and asphalt throughout the year then you have just met Joey Tanner of Portland. The rising star took the Jody’s Bar & Grill #111 Rocket Chassis to the Southern Oregon Speedway in White City for the two day finale for Northwest I-5 DIRTcar Late Model Series.

It was Tanner’s first Dirt Late Model race of the season since early September at the Cottage Grove Speedway as he had been busy with the ASA Northwest Late Model Tour the past two weeks. The weekend would

In the first night of action Tanner would have to make the feature the hard way by grabbing the last transfer position in the B Main event. But it was from his last row starting position to elevate himself towards the front of the field. By lap ten he had went from twentieth to tenth as he showed no signs of slowing down. Eventually chasing down the seventh place car in the last ten laps of the race he would finish in seventh for night one of the Battle at the Border.

Night two was the opposite sort of an evening with Tanner winning his heat race and getting into the feature without having to go through a consolation race. After an early race incident occurred this sent him to the back of the field and restarting in eighteenth.

The unfortunate circumstances didn’t last long as he was able to maintain his focus and by lap twenty-two was back in the top ten. The night would end with him finishing in the ninth place position a good finish considering both nights had over forty entries on both nights and Tanner would finish ninth in the overall point standings despite missing some races.

Next on the schedule for the team is travelling back to the pavement Yakima Speedway in Yakima, Washington for the annual Fall Classic. Getting back into the Asphalt Late Model Tanner is looking for the win and looking forward to taking the prize money as well as getting his name added to the list of champions. He is really looking forward to the event because he posted a third place finish at the venue earlier this year. For fans wishing to attend the event the racing action will start at 1 PM with gates opening at 11 AM for more information log on to the site provided in the additional information field.
