KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Auto racing returns to inside the famed Kemper Arena for two-weekends of racing action in December. The announcement was made by race officials today. Last year Midgets, along with various other classes ran for the first time inside the 19,500 seat arena in downtown Kansas City.
Last years event drew over 300 participants, and will now be run on two-weekends, this will allow for better track conditions, with quality racing not affected by time constraints. On December 11-13 racing divisions will include: twenty-three classes of go karts, and various micro sprint divisions. Friday Night and Saturday Night December 18-19 will feature the "Bull Ring Midget Nationals on Dirt". Slated for racing on the second weekend will be Midgets, modlites/dwarf cars, 1200 Outlaw lightning sprints and quarter midgets.
Last year 84 midget teams from around the country participated in the two-day event. The event is again drawing the interest of midget and sprint car racing's top drivers and teams along with drivers from NASCAR and the NHRA. Early enteries for the event include: Saturday Night winner Bryan Clauson, Friday Night winner Jerry Coons Jr., Danny Lasoski, Jason Leffler, Brad Loyet, Brad Kuhn, and Cruz Pedergon. Friday Night's feature will pay $5,000 to the winner, with Saturday Nights first place prize carrying a $10,000 payoff, with $500 to start the feature. There will also be a No Bull payout of $3,500 to the top three point earners over the two day event.
