COTTAGE GROVE, Oregon — In her sophomore season in the Keifer KIA #1 Maxim Chassis Springfield native Raquel Ivie experienced several things at the Cottage Grove Speedway. The year saw two different disastrous flips in the middle of the season that would have halted anyone else’s efforts to continue a racing career but there was a triumphant return in the closing races which seen her post a career best fourth place finish. She also experienced her first taste of racing without a wing making appearances at the Northwest Wingless Championships as well as with the brand new IXL Metal Conditioner Northwest Wingless Tour.
Ivie averaged a finish of ninth place and with only a handful of experience in a Sprint Car she did post an impressive statistic in that every main event she started she finished. Though she did not make every race in the Limited Sprint class the end result of the season points standing found her tenth place in points.
Ivie made one trip outside of her hometrack and that was on October 3rd for the Fall Classic at the Willamette Speedway in Lebanon. The result for her effort landed a twelfth at a track she had never raced at with a strong field on hand.
With 2009 in the books 2010 is next on the agenda for the twenty year old and is hoping to carry on the momentum from late in the season into to next year.
