
• CHAMPIONSHIP - Southwest Tour Series veteran M.K. Kanke will be crowned the 2009 Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series champion at the conclusion of Saturday night’s “GoLiveStream.TV Season Finale” at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It will be the first championship for Kanke since his track championship at Ascot Park over 30 years ago.
• POINT BATTLE – Three drivers are still battling for third in the final championship standings. Defending series champ, Jim Pettit and 2009 Victory Circle Rookie-of-the-Year Kevin Callahan are tied for third at 330 point going into Las Vegas. 2008 SRL Rookie-of-the-Year Josh Combs is just 8 points back with 322 entering Saturday’s race.
• LARGE FIELD – Thirty-one teams have entered this weekend’s Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series “GoLiveStream.TV Season Finale”.
• FIVE STATES – The states of California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington will be represented by Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series drivers at this weekend’s event.
• FIRST STARTS – Brandon Riehl from Boring, OR, Shawn Calderwood from Bakersfield, CA, Jonathon Gomez of Twin Falls, ID, and Travis Bennett of Ellensburg, WA will all be making their first SRL starts of 2009. For Calderwood, Riehl and Gomez it will be their first career SRL series starts.
• THIRD BULLRING APPEARANCE - Saturday will mark the third time in history the Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series will compete at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
• MOST LAPS – Saturday’s “GoLiveStream.TV Season Finale” will be the highest number of laps ever run in Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series history at 154. The teams will refuel the cars at lap 77.
• SPEEDFEST 2009 – Saturday’s racing at The Bullring will feature the Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series, SMRA Supermodifieds, USAC Midgets, Bombers and Legends. The event will also feature an on-track autograph session and kids ‘trick or treating’. Racing starts at 7pm.
