DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — Dennis Huth, American Speed Association President, has announced the hiring of Kevin Ramsell to the ASA’s Public Relations Department. Ramsell will be advancing from the public relations director position he has held for over two years with the American Speed Association Midwest Tour Super Late Model Series.
“We are very excited to have Kevin come on board full-time with ASA,” Huth said. “His passion for this sport, especially to short track racing, has shown through the articles and columns he has written, especially with his work for the ASA Midwest Tour as well as for the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship.”
Ramsell has been around short tracks since the age of 10. The 38-year-old from Stoughton, WI has worked as the Public Relations Director for Madison International Speedway, an ASA Member Track, Rockford Speedway, and Dells Raceway Park, another ASA Member Track. Prior to his public relations role, he worked on a pit crew for a championship limited late model team at Madison and worked as a scorer for three years at Madison and Jefferson (WI) Speedway. In July, 2007 he joined the ASA Midwest Tour as its Public Relations Director writing a majority of its releases and race reports.
“It’s very humbling to be asked and able to work under someone like Dennis Huth,” Ramsell said. “He has a very solid background in this sport especially with being an innovator for many of the racing events and series the racing community sees today. This will be a great learning experience and also there will be a lot of hard work ahead of me. I look forward to the challenges as well as working with the ASA Member Tracks and Series to help promote them along with the great competitors that race under the ASA banner. I am looking forward to promoting the “We Build Champions” motto and showcasing those champions.”
Ramsell has an Associates Degree in Marketing from Madison Area Technical College and has his insurance license in the State of Wisconsin in property, casualty, life and health.
Besides racing he is actively involved with the Wisconsin Marketing & Management Association, a college division of DECA where has served as a past state officer and has been a judge in its Sports & Entertainment Marketing event for the past 13 years on the regional, state and national levels. He also enjoys watching other sports like hockey, baseball, football and basketball. He is also an avid fan of Walt Disney World, where he has logged over 18 trips so far.
