
The Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway will present the latest round of its 2009-2010 Winter Blast Racing Series this Saturday night, November 14th. The quarter mile paved oval, located at the Colorado River Fairgrounds in Blythe-California, will treat its fans to a full evening featuring the Gene Price Motorsports Late Model River Series along with the Street Stock and Factory Stock divisions. This evening of stock car racing will pay tribute to the dedicated professionals from the Chuckwalla and Ironwood State Prisons as a way to thank them for their service to the community.

The Gene Price Motorsports Late Model River Series is a special eight race schedule hosted by both the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway and the Havasu 95 Speedway in Lake Havasu City-Arizona. The title sponsor, Gene Price Motorsports, is headquartered in Parker-Arizona and specializes in all things race cars including a wide variety of high performance parts. They also field a car in the NASCAR Camping World West Series">NASCAR Camping World West Series for driver Greg Pursley who finished third in that series standings this year. Also heavily involved in this series is Mac Tools who awards winning drivers with some of their speciality merchandise.
The series will highlight the racing action Saturday with a 75 lap main event. Making this race even more interesting is the fact that the winner will receive $1,000 as well as a beautiful custom tool box from Mac Tools. All participants are guaranteed $275 for just starting the race. With those numbers on the line this race it's expected to attract the attention of some of the finest late model driving talent from the southwest area.
That talent roster includes drivers Austin Murphy, Mike Sutterfield, Bobby Kerns and Mark Schriner. From Lancaster-California Austin Murphy, the defending series champion, leads the series standings with 98 points based on a win and a second place finish in the first two races of the winter season.
Eight points behind him is Blythe driver Mike Sutterfield whose 90 points are based on two top five finishes. Lake Havasu City's Bobby Kerns, the 2007 series champion, is third in the standings with 82 points. Mark Schriner holds down fourth and 18 markers behind the leader. The former Blythe track champion had a rough night during the October 10th season opener at the Havasu 95 Speedway but more than made up for it October 31st with a win at his home track in Blythe.
In the Street Stock ranks D J Lonie is on top of the standings with 144 points based on a very consistent two consecutive wins and three top five finishes. But that lead is only two points ahead of veteran driver Richard Selph whose has three top five's including two second place finishes. Bryant Sutterfield, who won the last race October 31st, holds down third in the standings with 136 markers and remains within striking distance of the division leader just 8 points away.
The fan favorite Factory Stocks will also see action on this Saturday night. Connor Sprawls leads the standings with 58 points based on two wins and three top five finishes. Bret Robinson is 17 points away in second based on a win and two top fives while Tom Nordell is one point behind him in third with three top five finishes.
On Friday, November 13th, the speedway will host a test and tune session for the race teams, from 6 to 9 pm, which is free to spectators. On Saturday race day the spectator gates will open at 4 pm with the racing beginning at 6 pm.
Tickets for Saturday are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors, 55 plus, along with military personnel and the handicapped. Teen tickets, ages 13 to 17, are $5 while tickets for kids six to 12 are $5. Kids under five are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Palo Verde High School students will receive a one dollar discount with their ASB cards. The speedway also offers a family package for $20 which admits two adults and two kids 17 and under.
