Jeff, Paula, Andrew, Austin and Broc Murphy, AKA After Hours Racing, would like to take this time to wish you happy holidays as well as to say thank you to their sponsors, colleagues, friends and fans for what has been an outstanding 2009 winter racing season. The racing Murphys will be spending the next several days to enjoy the holidays at their Lancaster-California home.

But, come January, this championship caliber team will be spending time in their shop getting their Lucas Oil/Havasu Legends and Bandos, race cars prepped for the second half of the winter racing season for their drivers Austin and Broc Murphy.

"Awesome" Austin Murphy is now half way through the current Gene Price Motorsports Late Model River Series. This eight race series is equally hosted by the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway, in Blythe-California, and the Havasu 95 Speedway in Lake Havasu City-Arizona. The series is sponsored by Gene Price Motorsports, a famed race shop and racing parts retailer located in Parker-Arizona. The series is also enhanced by an associate sponsorship from Mac Tools.

Murphy currently leads the Gene Price Motorsports Late Model River Series points standings and appears to be en route to winning a second, consecutive, series championship. In the first four events he has a highly consistent two wins along with a second and third place finish. That calculates to 196 championship points along with a 28 point lead over former late model champion Bobby Keirns with Mike Sutterfield 26 markers away.

But, thanks to the presence of Gene Price and Mac Tools in this series, the car count for these events are growing. The last race, held November 28th in Lake Havasu City, had a full field of 22 cars. That's due to the driver's purse that comes with these races.

That also means that the level of competition trying to stop Austin Murphy from winning that second consecutive title has also increased . That doesn't bother the "Awesome One." The driver of the #07 Lucas Oil/Havasu Legends and Bandos will be the first to tell you "bring it on."

Meanwhile Broc Murphy, driver of the #70 Lucas Oil/Havasu Legends and Bandos modified will begin his new year getting prepared to launch is rookie season in the 2010 edition of the SuperClean Modified Racing Series.

The teen driver made his official debut, last October 17th, in the prestigious regional touring series for open wheel modifieds in Blythe and impressed more than a few observers with a solid top ten finish. It's clearly evident that he's made quick work with the adjustment between his late model ride from last year and his new open wheel modified racer.

After Hours Racing will return to action on February 6th when the Gene Price Motorsports Late Model River Series returns to the Havasu 95 Speedway. Expect them to be well prepared as they continue the hunt for that second championship. Simply put: that's how they roll.
