FORMER NASCAR WEST CHAMPION, SEAN WOODSIDE, TO RACE TUCSON & POSSIBLY WIN THE TRIP TO AFRICA

Sean Woodside former Winston West champion has thrown his hat into the ring and will be running in the $5000 to win Drivetech Racing School 150 lap Super Late Model Phakisa Challenge race at ASA sanctioned Tucson Raceway Park on January 8th and 9th. Woodside joins a strong field with competitors from Las Vegas, Irwindale and SRL registered to join multiple feature winner and national ASA competitor Scott Rueschenberg, former Arizona state champion Joe Paladenic, five time Tucson Raceway Park champion Ron Norman and reigning champion Matt Levin to vie against the best of the west in this historic race.

"This is a really unique Super Late Model event, there’s obviously a great purse but it’s the chance to go race at a mile and a half racetrack in South Africa that has me really excited."Sean Woodside

“I’m excited about the opportunity to take down the win in the Super Late Model race and go race in the inaugural ASA Transcontinental Series Free State 500k event on January 31, 2010 at the Phakisa Freeway. This is a really unique Super Late Model event, there’s obviously a great purse but it’s the chance to go race at a mile and a half racetrack in South Africa that has me really excited,” said Woodside.

“It’s nice to see a driver with Sean’s considerable resume join our building field of Super Late Models for this great event. We look forward to seeing Sean’s talents go up against the best that the west has to offer at The New Tucson Raceway Park on January 9th. This event will be the biggest Super Late Model race that Tucson has seen since Winter Heat, and at the rate that inquiries and registrations are coming in this might end up being simply the biggest race in Tucson Raceway Park history,” said Mark Ebert president of The New Tucson Raceway Park.

The New Tucson Raceway Park will also be adding a $1000.00 to win Street Stock Open race, and open comp Hornet race to this exciting event.

“We ended up needing a restart on our rules package, but we are real comfortable now that we’ve got rules that will allow many different style cars to be competitive,” continued Ebert. “This event should be a great follow up to our Roger McCluskey 2010 Ford Focus Western Nationals on New Year’s day, our Winter racing season continues to roll on with one exciting event after another,” Ebert concludes.

Details on the rules and schedule for the race can be found at The New Tucson Raceway Park website at
