MYTON, Utah — Drivers following the 2010 EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Northern Tour will see a lot of familiar scenery.

Six of the seven tracks that hosted the IMCA Modified series last year are back on the schedule, while Thunder Mountain Raceway in Olathe, Colo., rolls out the red carpet for its first events since the inaugural tour in 2007.

Fourteen series dates have been announced, with the first Friday- Saturday doubleheader at Aztec, N.M., Speedway April 23-24.

Also on tap are twinbills at Thunder Mountain May 14-15; at Thunder Raceway">Desert Thunder Raceway in Price, Utah, June 4-5; at Battle Mountain, Nev., Raceway June 25-26; at Sweetwater Speedway in Rock Springs, Wyo., July 16-17; at Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez, Colo., Aug. 13-14; and at Atomic Motor Raceway in Atomic City, Idaho, on Sept. 17-18.

Winners of events with 40 or more entries earn $1,000 and become candidates for 2010 or 2011 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballots. Any feature with fewer than 40 entries will pay $750 to win.

National, ButlerBuilt Western Region and Smiley’s Racing Products State points, as well as special series points, will be awarded at all events. The series champion also receives year-end bonus points, to be applied to national and Western Re gion standings.

The top 20 drivers in points will again be invited to compete in a special Shootout during the Duel In The Desert at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in November.

Justen Yeager of Green River, Wyo., is the defending tour champion.
