THE NEW TUCSON RACEWAY PARK IS GEARING UP FOR THE PHAKISA CHALLENGE SUPER LATE MODEL EVENT THIS SATURDAY

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — The New Tucson Raceway Park, an ASA Member Track, is getting ready for its first big event of 2010 this Saturday with the running of The Phakisa Challenge 150-lap Super Late Model event. The winner will take home $5,000 and a trip to the Phakisa Freeway Circuit in Welkom, Free State, South Africa to compete in the ASA Transcontinental Series Inaugural Free State 500k event on Sunday, January 31, 2010.

"We are super excited for this event," Mark Ebert, TRP Promoter said. "Even the competitors are excited about this event. The excitement around the event in South Africa is growing every day so they are excited about this opportunity."

Some of the competitors expected to compete this Saturday night include former Winston West Champion Sean Woodside, Steve Mendenhall, Ron Norman, Matt Levin and Joe Paladenic plus many more.

Along with with the $5,000, the winner will be personally invited by Dennis Huth, ASA President and will be in attendance at the event, to compete in the ASA Free State 500 event on Sunday, January 31, 2010. The trip for two includes all travel costs, crew provided, and a guaranteed starting spot in the event on the 1.5-mile oval. Car and crew provided by Drivetech Racing School.

"This is an exciting opportunity for a super late model driver who wins this race to have the opportunity to compete in South Africa," Huth said. "This is going to be an exciting event, so exciting that I will be there and see it for myself. I would encourage all of the fans in the Tucson area to come out and see this great event with its family friendly pricing."

The fan gates open at 1 p.m. Along with the super late models, there will also be street stocks and Hornets racing starting at 2 p.m. The 150-lap feature will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Adult admission is $10, Seniors & Military are $8, Kids 7-12 are $5, and kids 6 and under are FREE.
