ANTELOPE, California — The 2009 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Rookie of the Year presented by Sunoco award winner is looking forward to the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown. This will be the second visit to the track dubbed the “Daytona 500 of short-track racing” for Paulie Harraka. He returns to pilot the No. 12 NAPA Filters, Buy It, Install It, Protect It! Toyota Camry for Bill McAnally Racing.
The Drive for Diversity participant will be taking the green after being guaranteed a spot by winning a race in 2009. Harraka posted NASCAR K&N Pros Series West wins at both Colorado National and at his home track of All American Speedway in Roseville, California.
Harraka had a podium finish at the Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, California in a 200-lap NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race last July. He finished fourth in the chase for the series championship recording seven top-five finishes.
"Racing at Toyota Speedway for the first time was a big learning experience for me and I'm was thrilled to bring our Toyota home in the top three,” said Harraka. “We know NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown will be a huge challenge, as Toyota Speedway isn't like any other track we go to and we will be racing against the top drivers in the series.”
The NCWS race, the “NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown” will be on January 28-29 at the Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, California. The seventh running of the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown, which brings together the top racers from across North America, will be highlighted by the 225-lap K&N Pro Series all-star race. Each race winner during the 2009 K&M Pro Series season is eligible for a protected starting spot, as are the 2009 champions from each of NASCAR’s six regional touring series and the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national champion.
In addition to eligible 2009 race winners and series champions, the starting lineup will be determined through time trials, limited provisionals for Camping World Series regulars, and the last-chance "Open" race that provides drivers one final chance to make the grid.
The 2010 NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown schedule also includes 100-lap Whelen All-American Series Super Late Model and 75-lap Late Model races. Both nights of racing will air live on SPEED.
