BOWLES SET TO KICK OFF 2010 STOCK CAR PROGRAM VIA NASCAR TOYOTA ALL-STAR SHOWDOWN

IRWINDALE, California — Rising American stock car racer Jason Bowles is set to get his 2010 race campaign underway this coming weekend (January 29-30) via the seventh running of the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale in Southern California. Bowles enters the prestigious start of the season event not only as the reigning NASCAR Camping World West Series champion, but also a podium finisher from the 2009 edition of the race.

Know as the “Daytona 500 of Short Track Racing”, the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown features premier drivers from the newly renamed NASCAR K&N Pro Series (East, West, Canada and Mexico) going head-to-head via 225 laps around the semi-banked half-mile oval.

For Bowles, the season-opening non-points race is a chance to further enhance his reputation as one of the future stars of NASCAR. Guaranteed a starting place in the race, thanks to his three NASCAR West Series wins and the series title in 2009, the Californian will make his third All-Star Showdown start as one of the drivers to watch. Not only is the former karting and junior formula car standout a former podium finisher in the race and the reigning Pro Series West champion – with three wins, three pole positions and 10 top-fives in 13 races – but he also has an impressive resume at the famed Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. The No. 6 West Ford pilot has won the last three NASCAR K&N Pro Series races from the pole position at Irwindale, leading an impressive 406 of 600 laps in the process.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel in the 2010 NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown,” said Bowles. “I’ve been fortunate to have a lot of success at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale over the past few years. Hopefully I can continue that tend this weekend and add an All-Star win to my resume.”

The on-track action for Bowles and the entire West Ford squad at the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown commences on Friday evening (January 29), with qualifying at 6 p.m. local time. One day later, the green flag for the 225-lap race will fly at 7:10 p.m. local time.
