EAGLE, Idaho — This weekend, Leighton Motorsports based in Eagle, Idaho starts a grueling three week road trip that will be the latest test for the second year team competing on the ISOC AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series. This weekend the tour heads to the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York for round five of the championship series at the Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack in Farmington, New York.
The Leighton Motorsports team is anchored by 20-year old Colby Crapo of St. Anthony, ID who is coming off his first appearance at X-Games 14 in Aspen, CO. While Crapo did not fare as well as he wanted at the X-Games, he is optimistic about his chances this weekend. Crapo competes in the Semi-Pro division and is seeking his first tour win.
“ISOC is great but we have not had the best luck,” Crapo said. “We are fast and everyone knows we are there; we just need for some better luck on track. It is going to be a fun stretch and I hope we have the results for all the effort the team is putting forth.”
Stephen Edwards from Arlington, WA competes in the Sport Stock class in ISOC for Leighton Motorsports vaulted back into the championship hunt after a pair of third place finishes in the last event at Canterbury. Edwards currently sits ninth in the standings. “It felt great to be on the podium at Canterbury and I hope we can have the same kind of success in New York,” said Edwards.
Competing in the Junior 16/17 class on the ISOC tour for Leighton Motorsports is Trevor Leighton from Eagle, Idaho. Leighton is currently third in the championship standings with top ten finishes in all races so far this season with a career best of second earlier in the season. “I get more confident each race and we have been competitive everywhere we have been this year,” Leighton said. “Hopefully it is a good weekend for the team.”
Leighton Motorsports is owned by Trace and Wendy Leighton of Eagle, Idaho who are in their second full season of ISOC competition. “The event in Farmington begins a team,” Leighton said. “Most of our team will be staying back east for the duration in order test and practice without having to travel home. I am looking forward to the second half of the season and a chance to shine.”
