BAKERSFIELD, California — For the 2010 SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series season, NTS Motorsports will expand to a two-car operation with the addition of driver Kevin Callahan and car owner Wes Furrh. Callahan and Furrh will join forces with Bob Newberry and son Brennan under the NTS Motorsports banner for 2010.
Furrh and Bob Newberry are longtime business partners in their oilfield construction company NTS, Inc. Callahan and Brennan Newberry are childhood friends who have raced against one another over the years, starting in go-karts.
As the 2010 race season approaches, the NTS Motorsports duo will be looking to challenge for the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series championship. Newberry who had an impressive 2009 season with one Top 5 and five Top 10’s, finishing ninth in the SRL championship is excited about the opportunity to team up with Callahan.
“I’m really looking forward to the season and having Kevin as a teammate. Our team will be stronger with two cars…I know I‘ll do everything I can to help Kevin and I know he’ll do the same for me. We’ll work together in everyway to help get both cars up front.” stated Brennan Newberry.
For Callahan, 2009 was an exceptional season that saw him take home the SRL Victory Circle Chassis Rookie of the Year title. Callahan would score back-to-back runner-up finishes on his way to seventh in the final SRL standings. When asked about his thoughts on the upcoming SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series season, the smile on his face is hard to miss.
“This is a dream opportunity for me. I couldn’t ask for a better situation, the cars, the crew and having a friend like Brennan as a teammate is awesome,” said Callahan. “This team has a lot of guys with a lot of experience, and I can’t thank Wes and Bob enough for this great opportunity.”
The two NTS Motorsports teams start their seasons on Saturday, March 27th at All-American Speedway in Roseville, CA at the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series season opener.
