TODD MCLAUCHLAN APPOINTED DIRECTOR OF RACE OPERATIONS ASA TRUCK SERIES

WRIGHTWOOD, California — Todd McLauchlan has been appointed Director of Race Operations for the ASA TRUCK SERIES, effective immediately. Todd will oversee all racing operations, decisions and communications and work closely with the series President on corporate issues as a board member and an equity partner. Jay Rutherford will step down as Series Director and concentrate on marketing and sponsorship for the series, sponsorship for the teams and drivers and funding of the national television shows on FOX Sports.

“The series needs a new face at the helm. The owners and drivers need a new direction by a seasoned race professional who will be an advocate for each of the racers and provide the racer a voice in the series,” stated Jay Rutherford ASA TRUCK SERIES President. “My election of Todd to the helm of the series has already realized numerous changes approved by the Rules Committee, starting with a tire rule where each competitor must race on the tires they qualify on and a shock rule with a claim feature. Most importantly, there will be a reduction of the Inspection Fee and a reduction of the engine inspection and re-seal fee by Van Gordon Racing Engines. These changes are critical to achieve rules of parity and address the current economic conditions and the need to help each team financially. Todd will continue to implement changes and make improvements to the series all season long as needed.” Rutherford stated.

“These improvements are just the beginning,” stated McLauchlan. “I am taking on this position because I have a strong belief in the series and what it has to offer to the racers and sponsors, I have a strong belief in Jay’s business and marketing abilities and I have a vested interest in the ASA TRUCK SERIES and its overall success. We are also in communication with Dennis Huth at ASA and the new promoters at Orange Show Speedway about additional race dates there for the 2010 racing season,” concluded McLauchlan.

Jeff Austine will remain as Head Technical Official and Race Director and will work very closely with Todd in enforcement of the revised and recently published 2010 Rules Book. Both Jeff and Todd are convinced the series needs to be ruled with an “iron fist” and will not tolerate Rule Book infractions of any kind.

Jeff and Todd will have additional technical help this year with series parts manufacturers stepping in to perform technical inspections at the track in post race technical inspections. The two of them have known each other for years, have a great relationship and will make a strong team to drive the ASA TRUCK SERIES to the next level.

Todd McLauchlan has been racing for twenty five years and is a successful business man as the President of Institutional Cabinet & Millwork (a commercial cabinet manufacturer).

Todd finished in the top ten in points in the very competitive NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Southwest Division, has won three championships at Cajon Speedway in the top three NASCAR divisions there, raced in the NASCAR Southwest Tour and finished 2nd in the points in the ASA Speed Truck Challenge in 2008. Without question, Todd’s business experience, coupled with his racing experience and his deep understanding of what the racers want, places him in the perfect position to lead the ASA TRUCK SERIES and ensure its continued growth.
