STREET STOCK, MODIFIED AND FACTORY STOCK TO HIGHLIGHT HAVASU 95 ACTION SATURDAY NIGHT

The Havasu 95 Speedway will present the latest round of its ASA sanctioned winter racing season this Saturday, March 6th. The most scenic quarter mile asphalt oval in the southwest will present its fans with a full evening of action from their ASA street stock, modified, factory stock and powder puff divisions. The speedway is located within the Sara Park complex in Lake Havasu City-Arizona.

When it comes to ASA street stock racing at this speedway there is one lingering question: who can beat Ralph Adams in a feature race? The division will be making their sixth appearance of the season and this 69 year old ageless wonder has won the last five features in a row and is well on his way to another track championship.

Despite the appearance that Adams is taking the younger drivers in the division to racing school, his championship points lead actually hasn't hit a point that would be considered insurmountable. With his five feature wins Adams now leads the standings with 250 points.

Phillip Waterman, with three top five finishes, is ranked second in the standings 28 points away from the leader. If Waterman is going to make any inroads towards this deficit then that process has to start Saturday night while there's still time left. However he will have to watch his rear view mirror as well because Ricky Maddox Jr is only eight points behind him in third while Rick Bezansen sits in fourth only 10 points away from second.

Also seeing action Saturday night at the Havasu 95 Speedway will be those thunder making, ground shaking, open wheel modifieds. That means an appearance by the first family of modified racing in the southwest: the Gerchmans of Lake Havasu City. Chris, Larry and David Sr have a tendency to rule modified action at this speedway. The family team has a long record of feature wins and track championships.

All three drivers are expected to compete in the 2010 regional touring series known as the Lucas Oil Modified Series presented by Rockstar Energy Drink. The Havasu 95 Speedway's winter schedule for this division is an excellent test and tune for the Lucas Oil Rockstar Series which officially begins on March 27th. But other series drivers, such as Jim Mardis, may also recognize the test and tune possibility and show up Saturday night in Lake Havasu City to give the Gerchmans some competition.

The fan favorite factory stock division will be making their eighth appearance of the season this Saturday night. Scott Allen, no stranger to what it takes to be successful in this division, currently leads the points standings with 302 points based on five top five finishes.

But this is factory stock racing, an environment where anything can happen and often does. The rotating drivers known as the Big O Tire team, with a feature win and four top fives, is second in the standings and only 14 points away from Allen. Third and fourth in the standings are occupied by drivers Lisa Snell and Shawn Deitch. Both drivers are feature winners this season and are tied with 278 points. Eight points behind them is Chris Blackwell whose four top five finishes has him fifth in the standings.

The lady drivers in the factory stock powder puff division will taking to the quarter mile paved oval for their third appearance of the winter season. Melanie Jackson, who has a second and a feature win from the two previous events, leads the division standings with 98 points. But that's only a six point lead over Christine Weiss who has a fourth and second place finish.

The Havasu 95 Speedway weekend actually begins on Friday, March 5th, with a test and tune session for the teams from 6 to 9 pm. This practice session is free to spectators. On Saturday race day the spectator gates will open at 4 pm with the green flag falling on the action at 6 pm.

Adults tickets for Saturday are $12. Tickets for seniors, 55 years plus, as well as the military and the handicapped are $10. Children's tickets, for ages six to 16, are $6 while children five and under are admitted free when accompanied by a paid adult. The speedway also offers a family pack for $25 which admits two adults and two kids. Race fans can also enjoy the special amenities of the VIP section, featuring the best seats in the house, for $25.
