TAYLOR MIINCH CLAIMS TWO VICTORIES AT CKI FLORIDA CUP

Team Top Kart USA pilot Taylor Miinch had another outstanding weekend at the Championship Karting International Florida Cup presented by Supertune USA and DeFrancesco Racing as the rookie senior pilot scored two victories and three podiums at the Homestead Karting complex. Miinch scored the Rotax Senior win on Saturday and added a TaG Senior victory on Sunday to his already impressive resume.

The Rotax Senior category provided some of the best racing action of the weekend and Californian Taylor Miinch was in the thick of things from the beginning. After taking the lead in the final, Miinch would be passed the very next corner and would fall back to the third position. As the top three swapped spots on the final circuits, Miinch made a bold late braking move in turn five and managed to scramble to the point with only a few corners and passing zones remaining. Miinch immediately went on defense mode protecting his line and was able to hold all of his competitors at bay.

Looking to repeat Saturday’s success on Sunday, Miinch would again be at the front of the field. As the racing action heated up, Miinch and a fellow competitor made contact which forced the P1 Engines powered driver off course and spiraling down the running order. As he closed the lap in the 12th position, Miinch was effectively out of the hunt for the win, but battled hard to come back and score another top ten result.

“The Rotax Senior division is one of my favorite classes of competition,” expressed Miinch after the weekend. “I have a chance to race against some of the best drivers in the country, and I look forward to that every weekend. The fields are a little smaller at the Florida Cup but the quality of competitors and skill level is second to none.”

Pulling double duty on the weekend, Miinch would also compete the CKI TaG Senior class aboard his P1 Engines powered Top Kart. As the point leader in the series, Miinch had a point to prove and did so by scoring two podiums throughout the weekend. Racing against drivers with different powerplants, Miinch would score a second place result on Saturday before making the necessary chassis and gear changes on Sunday to take the win.

Miinch added, “Overall this was a great weekend for the Miinch Motorsports team. I would like to personally thank my teammates, tuners John Wiegand and Cory Pollock as well as my family for all their support. The final round of the series is in two weeks time, and I look to make a good run at both overall championships.”
