EAGLE, Idaho — March 4, 2010) The Eagle based Leighton Motorsports team is set for round eight of the ISOC AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series this weekend in Hayward, WI. The team heads into the final two events both Colby Crapo and Trevor Leighton within striking distance of their respective class titles. A top finish this weekend will go a long way in their championship quest.
Colby Crapo of St. Anthony, ID is coming off consecutive third place finishes in the last two national events and is solely focused on continuing his consistent streak. “We have had good runs but we are ready to take the top spot on the podium,” Crapo said. “We have two chances and it is really up to me to get it done.”
Crapo sits fourth in the Semi-Pro SS#1 standings and sixth in the Semi-Pro SS#2 standings with only one finish this season outside the top ten.
Trevor Leighton of Eagle who competes in the Junior 16/17 and Sport Super Stock class has been competing in regional action the last three events as his classes do not stage races at all the national events. The time spent on the sled has paid off for the 16-year old as he has been able to work on his starts. “I have struggled quite a bit this season with starts,” Leighton said. “If you get a good start in this type of racing then you generally have a pretty good. I have had to work twice as hard coming from the back.”
Leighton is currently third in the national standings in the Junior 16/17 class, and with strong runs in the final two events, he will be squarely in the championship fight. The series finale is set for March 19-21 in Lake Geneva, WI with the annual series awards banquet to follow on Sunday night.
