For Immediate Release: March 10th, 2010 , part #1 of #2.
Sunset Beach California. It’s been two years in the making, but the long awaited fan giveaway of the “One of a Kind” “Sharpie Permanent Marker” artwork done by the most popular racer in NASCAR, “Dale Earnhardt Jr.” is official. One lucky race fan will take home the drawing to put on their wall, AND two tickets to the most popular NASCAR race on the Sprint Cup Circuit, The Irwin Tools 500, at Bristol Motor Speedway! Airfare, and accommodations included! When Dale Earnhardt Jr. was kind enough to “sketch something up” to benefit my “America’s Baby Cancer Foundation” and Children’s charities, during my interview with him on an ESPN2 show in 2007 I had no idea the impact his drawing would have say’s motorsports personality Gordon “Lug Nutzz” Stewart. I mean we all KNOW Junior can race, but his talent as an artist is amazing when you see what he has created in only 15 minutes with his own personal Dale Jr. signature series “Sharpie”. He definitely had a career in art if he had chosen “Sharpie’s” over “Chevrolet’s” as his instrument of choice!
And ‘fans”…YOUR instrument of choice to WIN that drawing and the Bristol race package will be your Mac, iPhone, Blackberry or PC! Log onto www.lugnutzz.com Friday March 12th at high noon, 12pm PST to register to win! No purchase necessary, and you can enter once a day. My favorite thing about this promotion, aside from raising both awareness of pediatric, skin cancer and funds to help families with children who have cancer is that one REAL fan regardless of his or her financial status will OWN something that nobody else has! With an auction so many blue collar, die hard Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans….NASCAR fans would not have been able to participate said Stewart. Equally as important to this promotion is the driver, personality that will represent the fans in getting the word out, and participating in the entire process. I have been so blessed to work with many incredible drivers in my work within the Motorsports community, so the choice was a tough one, but ultimately the absolute best fit had to be a driver that not only personifies talent ON the race track, but integrity, and genuine class when he wasn’t racing. 20 year old NTS Motorsports K&N Pro and Spears SRL Series racer Brennan Newberry was the right choice!
(continued from page #1)
Beginning April 8th in Phoenix Arizona for the K&N Pro Series West Race Brennan Newberry’s NTS Motorsports Chevrolet will sport a “replica” of the original “Sharpie” drawing that will be awarded to ONE lucky fan to promote the giveaway to benefit kid’s battling cancer! Brennan definitely had lot’s to be excited about with this promotion heading into the 2010 season with lots of optimism: Are you serious? to be the ONE racer to run this Sharpie drawing promotion, "Giving Children Hope" is humbling and exciting said NTS Motorsports K&N Pro, and Spears SRL Racer Brennan Newberry! I knew Dale Jr. was a great race car driver, but I had no idea he was such a talented artist! The drawing is awesome, and to know that Jr. did it to raise awareness of kid's cancer tells you all you need to know about what a special person he is OFF the race track. And I'm especially proud that one real NASCAR fan will win the drawing in a contest that is free to enter!
Anyone who has ever met Brennan and/or his family can see how genuine they are. Racers are a family fraternity, and the Newberry family is known for going out of their way to help new racers whether it is in the Jan’s Towing Bandolero pits at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, or a K&N Pro Series, or Spears SRL series event where the stakes are a lot higher. For Bob Newberry, Brennan’s father, and owner of NTS Motorsports, family, especially the kid’s is what makes racing special for them: We are really excited to be involved in the "Dale Jr. Sharpie drawing giveaway”. We've worked with Gordon "Lug Nutzz" Stewart for the past few years and the America’s Baby Cancer Foundation is something we have always been proud to support. Knowing that this promotion is helping kids AND rewarding one real NASCAR fan with that "One of a kind” Dale Jr. drawing just makes this promotion all the more special says NTS Motorsports team owner Bob Newberry.
For Gordon “Lug Nutzz” Stewart, this is a proud completion of a promise he’s made to kid’s over the past 8 years as a member of a ABCF, and his new friends at the Melanoma Research foundation. I truly believe people meet for a reason, and my chance meeting with Kevin E. West of the Hack n Smack golf tournament supporting the Melanoma research foundation in honor of Kerry Daveline, opened my eyes to not only the loss of life due to skin cancer…but the loss of a parent by so many incredible little children. The incidence of skin cancers is rising as fast as pediatric cancers. I feel so blessed to see this promotion become reality so we can help both causes said Lug Nutzz: To have a celebrity like Dale Earnhardt Jr. offer his talent by creating something unique to a project that is so dear to my heart is humbling. We took our time in deciding how best to utilize this rare opportunity.
In the 12 years I have been affiliated with Motorsports, I have been priveleged to work with some incredible people. To be a part of this Dale Earnhardt Jr., "Sharpie drawing" is without a doubt a highlight for me said Motorsports personality Gordon "Lug Nutzz" Stewart. Hosting the "Sharpie Bold Zone" interactive site in Bristol for many years for the "Sharpie 500 NASCAR" race has given me great respect for not only "Sharpie's commitment to NASCAR racing, but most importantly the fans! It was Sharpie that gave me the opportunity to work with Dale when he ran the "Sharpie Mini 300 Busch series race in 2007, and having Jr. offer to create some artwork to bring awareness to the rise pediatric cancer cases, and benefit our America's Baby Cancer Foundation is just one more reason I am grateful to be involved with a global brand like "Sharpie". Aside from the athlete's and celebrities that exclusively use "Sharpies" as their official autograph pens, "Sharpies" are instrumental in the medical field. Especially radiology in the battle against cancer. The final and possibly most "important" piece to this promotion was finding the perfect partner, racer to help us get the word out. Obviously we were inundated with teams, and racers that wanted to be involved, but choosing NTS Motorsports, K&N Pro and Spears SRL series racer Brennan Newberry was a perfect fit for all the right reasons says Stewart. I've watched Brennan on and off the track for the last year and a half, and as impressed as I am with his growth and development as a racer, I am more impressed with Brennan's integrity, and genuine appeal he has with, and FOR the race fans. Brennan is the kind of young man that any parent would be proud of, and as a family it's easy to see why NTS Motorsports is becoming so popular with fans...and kids especially. Many of our patients and families from ABCF have been treated to days at the races, and Brennan never fails to put a smile on kid's faces that are going through a rough time. We’re proud to have him represent us and glad he is the exclusive racer to fly the "replica" hood wrap of the Sharpie Dale Jr. drawing!
