RAUDMAN BEATS THE HEAT AT THE BULLRING

LAS VEGAS – NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series driver Craig Raudman fought through the 250-lap battle on the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to take first place in the StarNursery.com 250.

The afternoon sun caused extremely hot track conditions and mass chaos on the track with only two drivers -- Raudman and McKean -- on the lead lap to race for the checkered flag.

Ed McKean finished second and full-time NASCAR Winston West pilot Mark Reed took third place. This event is Reed’s third podium finish of three events he has raced on the Bullring. Reed took first places in both the Winston West event Mar. 1 and in the Southwest Series race last September.

M.K. Kanke took a 16th place due to engine problems, but will hold his top position in points standings by a margin of 95 points.

The 75-lap Ultra Wheels Spec Truck feature was won by Joe Herold. Jack Hodges finished a close second and Jim McGill took third.

Jerry Walton made his second visit to victory lane, winning the 30-lap Grand American Modified event. Walton also won the last Grand American Modified event at the Bullring on Mar. 10 and donates all his winnings to the firefighter’s burn fund.

Dan Fitzgerald finished second and Sonny Boeckman took third. Wayne Morris, Jr. won his first heat race of the 2000 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series, but finished 19th due to a spin-out.

Racing returns to the Bullring May 12 with Weekly Racing Series action including Late Models, Outlaws, Chargers, Legends Cars, and Speed Trucks. Shopping cart races are also on the schedule and fans are encouraged to participate.
