The Willow Springs Speedway had planned to treat its fans to the Hooper 100 late model stock car race, originally scheduled for March 7th, but mother nature had some different plans. Inclement weather forced speedway officials to postpone this special event until this Sunday, March 21st. Also rescheduled is the giant racer's swap meet which will be held on Saturday, March 20th.

This exciting weekend is being presented by BWS, Beyond Willow Speedway, Promotions. The quarter mile, paved, oval is an integral part of the mammoth Willow Springs International Motorsports Park located in Rosamond-California.

Here's some more good news from BWS: they checked the weather forecast and the weekend in Rosamond calls for sunny skies, some light clouds and day time highs in the low 70's. More important is the fact that the forecast also calls for a zero percent chance of rain.

This high energy Willow Springs Speedway weekend begins on Saturday morning with the racer's swap meet. It's expected to be an excellent source for race car parts for those who getting prepared for the upcoming spring racing season. It's also an opportunity for fans to visit with the drivers. Saturday's schedule also features a test and tune session for the drivers and teams from 10am to 4 pm.

Sunday race day is filled with final practice, qualifying and of course the racing action from a wide variety of divisions which gets underway at 12 noon. In addition to the excitement of the Hooper 100 late model feature, the Willow Springs Speedway will also be presenting action from the legend, factory four, mini stock, street stock, hobby/pure stock, sport compact and figure eight divisions.

The Hooper 100 is named in honor of the late Richard Hooper who was truly one of the most prolific stock car racing icons in the southwest. He was also one of the best friends a fellow racer ever had off of the track. The interest in this 100 lap feature was based out of respect for Hooper with many of his friends and fellow competitors eager to participate in the event. By the end of February BWS officials reported 26 pre race entries who will be vying for the 22 starting berths in the race.

There's a second reason why this race has drawn so much interest: it's very lucrative. The Hooper 100 features a $1,000 pay out to the winner. Making the post race trip to the pay window even sweeter is the presence of lap money. Approximately 38 sponsors, many of them racing families, have posted $10 per lap and that has added an additional $1,000 to an already lucrative late model purse.

General admission tickets for the Hooper 100 are $10 with children eight and under admitted free. One of the marvelous aspects to visiting the Willow Springs International Motorsports Park is the fact that the $10 admission purchases a wrist band that includes both Saturday and Sunday activities at the park. A fan can use that weekend wrist band to visit both of the road courses, the kart track and of course the Willow Springs Speedway activities. Bring the motor homes and RV's, the park also features free camping.
