PENRYN, California — 17 year-old NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model driver Tyler Thomas has announced he will compete in a minimum 16 race schedule in the #24 RPM NorCal Chevrolet at All American Speedway, Stockton 99 Speedway, and Toyota Speedway at Irwindale.
The Del Oro High School junior will compete under the Nascimento Motorsports banner in his ambitious 2010 efforts.
Thomas had an up-and-down rookie season in 2009, persevering through illness, surgeries, and setbacks to put together a solid campaign that included five top-ten finishes in the Westcar Late Model Series.
New sponsor RPM Norcal will lead Thomas into his season opener on April 10 at All American Speedway. RPM-NorCal, based in Loomis, Calif, is your partner in Prototyping, Pre-production, and production of custom molded products. In house, design, engineering, CNC mold making and production parts. Thomas Motorsports, Inc. is also sponsored by: classic-chevrolet.com, Beach Hut Deli, Loomis Basin Veterinary Hospital, Emmick Racing Karts, Rookers Collision Center, Superfast Signs, and Warehouse Paint.
Thomas will tentatively compete in all three races within the Stockton 99 “Tri-Holiday Series” beginning May 29. His regular points season is slated to conclude on September 4 at Stockton, with an appearance at Toyota Speedway for a 100 lapper scheduled on September 25.
The young driver began his career racing in the Western Scale Racing Association Mini Cups, where he tailed the most feature wins for the season in 2007. That touring experience should pay dividends for Thomas as he tours California in 2010.
