POLE IN YOUNG GUNS AND TOP-TEN IN SOCAL FOCUS MIDGETS FOR CLARK

LOS ANGELES, California — 16 year-old Jessica Clark had a wild weekend competing at Havasu 95 Speedway in Lake Havasu, AZ, claiming a pole position in the USAC Ford Focus Young Guns and earning an eighth place finish in the USAC SoCal Pavement Ford Focus Midgets.

Clark, driving for both Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle and Jessica Clark Racing, is running full-time in the USAC SoCal Pavement Ford Focus Midget series. She opened up that campaign Saturday by qualifying fourth out of 16 cars around the quarter-mile asphalt oval.

A serious accident for Jessica in the JCR #44 in the heat race forced her to take the controls of the RSWC #8 car for the feature. Clark navigated a busy race track over the 40 lap feature to come home eighth and recover for a solid points day.

Clark’s biggest accomplishment of the weekend was her qualifying effort in the RSWC #8 car for the Young Guns series. Clark showed her growth in her second year driving for Ron Sutton, by taking the pole at over two tenths of a second faster than her nearest competitor.

“Jessica has come a long way in only four races,” said Driver Coach Ron Sutton. “Last year we only ran her in three races, but she learned super quick and was running up front by the end of the season. She will one to watch for wins this season.”

The Westlake High School student will hope to take a repaired #44 entry into I-10 Speedway in Blythe, Calif. for this weekend’s races. The races are again a combination between the SoCal, Western, and Utah regional points series and should have another full-field in action.

Jessica Clark and Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle want to thank sponsors K&N Filters, Scribner Plastics, Allstar Performance, Inventory Sales Company, Sunoco Race Fuels and Star Racing Supply.
