ROSEVILLE SHOWING DISPLAYS YOUNG TALENT IN JOSH COMBS

SACRAMENTO, California — Twice was nice for Josh Combs in his return to All-American Speedway. Josh and his dual schedule found him in competition in both the K&N Pro Series West as well as the Spears SRL Latemodel Series. In his season points debut in both series Josh brought home two 3rd place finishes for the night.

In his K&N Pro Series number “9” the Grape King , Giumarra Vineyards, Sunrise Ford supported driver posted a strong fifth place qualifying run. “Bill Sedgwick and the team unloaded an extremely well prepared car for this weekend’s race. During the main event we had a great car on long runs. A few of the yellows that came out did not help much as the car was getting faster. I made the adjustment behind the wheel in order to maintain position on the track until the car came in. I cannot thank these guys enough on this squad they made my season debut a huge success. After this weekend I am looking forward to getting to Phoenix and showing what this team is about” Closing out round one of The K&N Pro Series West season finds Josh third in series points and leading the Rookie of the year standings.

Hitting the track with the Spears SRL Southwest Series was not without the early season hiccups. Combs and his GrapeKing, California Upholstery, Country Bear Ford struggled in practice and qualified fifteenth in the field. “We ended up having a hang up in the front suspension and had a real bad push from the center of the corner. It was definitely a handful. With the series rules and impound we could not make any adjustments or even see what was going on heading into the main. Dan and I discussed the issue and how to work around it.”

Combs was very methodic with his approach to the main event, as the goal for the season is a championship in the series. With a run of cautions and quite a few of the other series front runners having worse mechanical issues, Combs picked his way forward in the field. “Dan (Joiner) and I conversed a lot over the radio during that main, without him in our corner we may not have ended up with a 3rd place finish. We had a few close calls out there, but we got thru it”

Josh would like to thank his additional marketing partners Finishline Racing Equipment, DJ Safety, Joes Racing Products, Wilwood Engineering and Maaco Paint and Auto Body of Rancho Cordova, Ca
