The Willow Springs Speedway will debut their 2010 summer racing series this Saturday night, April 17th. The event is the first of 11 racing weekends that will feature a wide variety of racing classes all the way through the latter part of October. The quarter mile paved oval is located within the mammoth Willow Springs International Motorsports Park complex in Rosamond-California.

Opening night features racing action from the speedway's late model, pro stock and hobby stock divisions who will treat the fans to a series of trophy dashes, heat races and main events Saturday night. The evening will be highlighted by appearance from the always exciting Hollywood Stuntmen who will be running a special 150 lap spectacular.

We have all seen the special skills of a Hollywood stuntman during the course of watching our favorite television shows and popular movies. Several years ago many of these Hollywood car specialists got together and came up with the idea of forming their own special brand of recreation between film assignments. They built street stock race cars, designed for two occupants, and began racing them at local Saturday night speedways.

The race format is two segments, 75 laps each, with an intermission in between the segments for repairs and a driver change. Just to make things more interesting is the fact that the speedway is completely submerged in water prior to each segment. These guys are highly entertaining and well worth the trip to Rosamond to see their fast pace form of stock car racing.

In the speedway's late model division recently crowned winter series champion Gene Foos is expected to be on hand to seek the summer title and can expect competition from the likes of Alex Anderson, Dana Moore and Chris Peedan.

The pro stock ranks is also a competitive division with established names such as Tom Wilson, Ray Mood, Bobby Dezarov and Randy Wilkins expected to be on hand.

Also look for Matthew Wolfe, Gary Keaster, Eric Rapos and Gary Marler to be major players in the speedway's hobby stock action Saturday night.

On Saturday race day the gates will open at 12 noon followed by practice sessions at 3pm, qualifying at 545pm with the first race getting underway at 7 pm.

Tickets are $10 with children eight and under admitted free. The general admission tickets allows access to all of the activities on all of the tracks in the Willow Springs International Motorsports Park on both Saturday and Sunday making it a very special bargain. Bring the campers and RV's because the park also offers free camping.
