JEROME, Idaho — For the better part of the past decade Brett Thompson has raced in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series where he has won and become one of the most competitive drivers in the series. He has seen the highs and the lows of the sport and through it all he and his Thompson Motorsports team has grown into one of the finest racing operations in the western United States.

"The RMCS is a great series and it really fits nicely into my schedule this year."Brett Thompson

This season, Thompson is going to concentrate his efforts on building the team focusing on the future. That means he will start only a handful of NASCAR events this season but that does not mean the desire of competition has faded. In fact, Thompson will take on a new challenge by competing in the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series which runs primarily in Idaho and Utah.

"The RMCS is a great series and it really fits nicely into my schedule this year," Thompson stated. "I have been to a lot of the races over the years and I really like the way Mike (Minegar, President of the series) and his team run the races. I love competition and running for a points championship and since this series is so close to home it just worked out perfectly."

Thompson Motorsports has undertaken a new challenge in preparing and fielding a variety of race vehicles for seven different drivers this season. The larger challenge has been building a second NASCAR team that will compete in select events in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this season.

"I need to scale back my NASCAR schedule this year in order to focus on the new team(s) we have at Thompson Motorsports," Thompson said. "It is going to be quite a year and hopefully we can be as successful on the track as we have been in the shop. I am really proud of the entire team and all of their hard work and dedication to providing great service and producing great results."

Teaming with Thompson in the RMCS will be Kenny Vanderham who will be making the transition from racing at the local track level to contesting a regional tour. Also operating out of the Thompson Motorsports camp this season are Drew Reistma and Kent Jensen who compete in the Intermountain Pro Truck Series and who both had top ten runs last weekend. Taylor Barton out of Las Vegas, NV drives the #60 Thompson Motorsports prepared NASCAR K&N Pro Series ride and has finishes of 9th and 11th so far this season. Rick Boysal will also take the wheel of the #60 at the three road course events later this year.

Thompson's first race with the RMCS is this Saturday night at Magic Valley Speedway outside Twin Falls, ID. The tight bullring is a track Thompson knows well. "Even though this is my first event with the RMCS, I started my racing career at Magic Valley and I have a lot of laps around the place," Thompson said. "I can't wait and I know the fans will see a great event."
