Branden Underwood 16, from Henderson Nevada is heading to his second ASA Truck Series race at Lucas Oil I-10 Raceway this weekend. After bringing home a Trophy Dash Win and a 4th place finish in the season opener at Havasu 95 Speedway on April 3rd, Underwood hopes to bring home another win!

At the ASA Truck Season opener in Havasu Underwood qualified 6th place to be eligible for the Trophy dash. As they inverted the field Underwood started on pole and finished in first place! Underwood got out of his #28 Dodge Dakota to get interviewed in front of grand stands packed with fans, he had a big smile on his face “he said it was so exciting to win my first trophy dash and it’s a great start of the season as I enjoyed getting back into the racing seat after 5 months layoff and to race against a great field of drivers”.

When the main event began his Crew Chief Dana Stahl made some adjustments to his truck for the main. As the race started Underwood stayed in the front, as he entered the first turn there was a caution, a restart began and after a lap Underwood was hit from behind as he lost his momentum and was in the back of the field. As the race continued there was a 3 truck wreck in front of him as he jumped to the outside to avoid missing the trucks, a yellow was raised. The restart began, Underwood had a good start and made some smart passes as he worked his way back up towards the front of the pack he was a few truck lengths behind 3rd place and finished in 4th place to end the evening event. After the race Underwood stated “it didn’t help me when I got slammed from behind, and ended up in the back of the field, but I was able to get back up front, they shortened the race to 75 laps I needed those additional laps to get to the lead, but ran out of laps to finish 4th place, I was excited with my first race and I am ready to go to the next race in Blythe.”

Branden would like to thank his Crew Chief Dana Stahl, Spotter Uncle Bill, and his Dad as well as his Sponsors: Terrible Herbst, Prestige Plumbing, Star Nursery, Bill Varnes at Mirage Racing Products, Butch’s Speed Shop, Patricks Signs and Hogan Chiropractic.
