TWIN FALLS, Idaho — Bruce Quale had waited a long time to win in the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series and that wait came to an end Saturday night as he bested Thane Alderman of Las Vegas, NV in a final seven lap sprint to the finish at Magic Valley Speedway. The win was his first career triumph in his fifth season of competition in the series. Crossing the finish line in third was Brett Thompson of Jerome, Idaho in his first career series start. MVS legend Steve Jones finished fourth followed by Dylan Caldwell rounding out the top five.
Quale started the race in the eighth position and worked his way into the top five by lap 20 and into the lead by lap 30. He held off a determined Thane ALderman over the final 35 circuits en route to the win. "It feels great to finally win in the RMCS," said an excited Quale. "I have won a lot of races but I have always wanted to win in this series. I really didn't think we were going to be that good tonight and I am really thankful that Thane took it easy on me. He was a lot better off the corner."
Even with the win, Quale only managed to leave the first race second in the point standings due to a disappointing qualifying run. "In this series it is really important to qualify well and then pass the most cars," Quale said. "We will get better at that piece but it sure feels great to win especially here at Magic Valley Speedway."
