LAS VEGAS, Nevada — The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and the Pacific Street Car Association (PSCA – www.PSCAracing.com) are teaming up to provide automotive enthusiasts with another opportunity to race their cars at America's Greatest Drag Strip. Wednesday Night Drag Racing will return to The Strip at LVMS on June 16 for the first of eight event nights to be run over the 2010 season.
Wednesday Night Drag Racing is designed to fill the gap between car enthusiasts who don't fit the criteria for The Strip at LVMS's Dodge Midnight Mayhem street-legal program and also those whose cars do not fit into a typical bracket-racing category. Each race program places an emphasis on grudge racing while also hosting dial-in eliminations for competitors in PSCA Pony Car, Street Motorcycle, Front Wheel Drive and Open Bracket categories.
The series begins June 16 and continues on June 30, Aug. 25, Sept. 8, Sept. 22, Oct. 6, Oct. 20 and Nov. 10.
In an effort to guarantee multiple time runs, only 175 tech cards will be sold at each Wednesday Night Drag Racing event. The Wednesday Night Drag Racing program also will offer designated staging lanes and pit areas for car clubs who are interested in hosting meetings and competitions at the track.
One highlight of Wednesday Night Drag Racing is a series-long points program for the LVMS/PSCA Pony Car class that will award $500 and a championship trophy for the overall winner and cash awards for the top five contestants. The LVMS/PSCA Pony Car class is open to 2000-and-newer American manufacturer rear-wheel-drive cars (Dodge Challenger, Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang, Pontiac GTO, etc.).
Gates will open at 5 p.m., with racing from 6-11 p.m.
The Strip at LVMS is an NHRA-sanctioned facility and all NHRA rules will be in effect for cars competing during Wednesday Night Drag Racing.
