LADIES NIGHT AT EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY MAY 8

MONROE, Washington — This Saturday night May 8, 2010, Evergreen Speedway will be honoring the ladies in attendance with a discounted ticket price and a carnation for the first 750 through the gate courtesy of ‘Flowers By Karen’ of Monroe, WA. The nights racing will feature the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Super Late Models, Street Stocks, Foster Press Mini-Stocks, Stinger 8’, Super Figure 8’s and the Hornets. All get underway at 7pm with front gates opening at 5pm.

Ladies will get a major discount off the adult price. It will only be $7 for ladies this Saturday in honor of Mother’s Day.

The NASCAR season continues after a week off for most. The Super Late Model Division point’s leader and eight time speedway champion Tom Moriarity (Monroe, WA) will be vying for three in row. The first two races have had Moriarity on victory stage. The last win did not come easy after having to come from the back of the race twice to win. Even with the two in row start for Moriarity, he only has a slim 5-point edge on Jeff Knight (Monroe, WA) for the 2010 season championship. Just 7-points back is Daniel Moore (Snohomish, WA).

In the feature division Street Stocks the points leader after three races is Jim Foti (Edmonds, WA)) who is looking for that first ever championship. Foti has come close but has yet to gain the big prize at the end of the season. Not far behind is Joe Kneeland (Bothell, WA) also after his first crown. In third is Darrell Lutovsky (Everett, WA) who is just 2-points back from Kneeland. Second through fifth have just three points separating them. There has yet to be a repeat winner this season.

Just two races into their respective season, the Foster Press Mini-Stock division has a tight battle going for the points lead. Current leader and former champion Nat Barber (Monroe, WA) enjoys a marginal 7-point lead over another former champion Scott LaCross (Everett, WA). John Roberts (Bothell, WA) is only 8-points from holding the top position.

Steve Peters (Monroe, WA) is in the driver’s seat for the Stinger 8 championship, after two races this season. There is an 11-point gap for Peters over Lance O’Grain (Monroe, WA). Third is held by Seth Funden (Marysville, WA) only 14-points in arrears.

The very fast Super Figure 8’s return to action with Jake Repin (Monroe, WA) leading the defending champion John Carlson (Snohomish, WA) by a whopping 3-points. Close to these two is third in the standings Dale Larson (Marysville, WA) only 11-points back.

Entry level racing continues with the return of the Hornet Division. Only 18-points are between first through eighth. Leader of the pack is Jaime Corbett (Arlington, WA) followed by Joselyn LaFleur (Monroe, WA) and Mike Dahar (Monroe, WA) holds the third spot.

It all gets underway at 5pm when the front gates open and each of the first 750 ladies into the speedway receiving a carnation from Flowers By Karen. The racing action starts at 7pm.
