JEROME, Idaho — Brett Thompson of Jerome, Idaho coming off a strong third place performance at Rocky Mountain Raceways in the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series action three weeks ago. The annual Memorial Day 125-lap race is the event he has had on his mind all winter.

"We are focused on winning at RMR," Thompson said. "The track suits my style of driving and the 125 laps on Monday really suits our set-up as my car is really good on long runs."

Thompson sits second in the point standings after two races and two third place finishes. "Will Harris (crew chief) and the whole Thompson Motorsports crew have done a great job so far this season and we know we are going to win this season," Thompson offered.

Racing in the RMCS is different than most any other series out there in that winning is not necessarily the measure of success. "We want to win each time out," Thompson said. "But you have to be fast and qualify well at each race or you will be left out in the point standings. "It is really about the total package and that is what makes this series so much fun. We have been fast, finished well, and are right in the middle of the championship battle. Winning will keep us there."

Thompson is coming off a disappointing NASCAR weekend at Iowa Speedway where a flat tire sidelined his effort. "Racing is a humbling sport," Thompson said. "We always remember our last race but always look forward to the next. I am really excited about racing at RMR as it is the nicest track in the region and one of the great ovals in the West."
