
May 19, 2001 (North Hollywood, Calif.) - Sean Woodside, driver of the #45 Team Walker/Ron's Rear Ends/NAPA Chevrolet in the NASCAR Winston West Series, today won the Bud Pole Award for tomorrow's FoodsCo NASCAR Challenge Salinas 250 at Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif.
Woodside posted a lap-time of 1:33.980 minutes around the 2.238 road course.
This was Team Walker Motorsports first Bud Pole Award. The team launched its Winston West effort during the 2000 season with a limited schedule, and is competing in its first full season in the series.
"I feel confidant that this is the first of many poles," said Donna Walker, team owner. "My team has done a great job so far this weekend. We can't wait to get back here tomorrow morning for the race."
"The team has given me a great car this weekend," Woodside commented. "I'm really happy for them and, especially for Donna."
Woodside was fast all day, posting the second-fastest time in the first practice session and the third fastest in the second session.
