SACRAMENTO, California — Heading into this season’s NASCAR K & N Series season Rookie Josh Combs knew that this was not going to be easy. An emerging talent with a solid team is your typical ingredients needed to spark a team to be reckoned with. But often times when lady luck does not smile on you all you can do is persevere.
“The big tracks have not been our strong suit. Everywhere we go is a new place that we have not raced at for the exception of Roseville. The Iowa race was difficult; we just could not get our stride going all weekend. I tried my best to keep the car together and get our points which we did. I was just hoping the finish would have been better for the team.”
To the teams benefit Combs still finds himself sitting in fifth place in the series championship hunt and still leading the Rookie of the year standings. The schedule for the rest of the season look’s to be on the young drivers side. I know we will have a great Grape King, Giumarra Vineyards, Sunrise Ford heading into the next race at Douglas County Speedway.. The guys at the Sunrise Ford Racing shop are putting great short track cars together. I am a very strong short track driver and I plan on putting this team back up front.”
The next event for the series Rookie will be the challenging 1/3 mile oval at Douglas County Speedway for the Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts Bonus Challenge 150 June 5th. The Oregon short track is a small market favorite as the fans always come out and support the local show.
Josh would like to thank his marketing partners, GrapeKing, Giumarra Vineyards, Sunrise Ford, Lucas Oil, Finishline Racing Equipment, Oakley, Threewide Clothing, DJ Safety and Joe’s Racing Products.
