NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES round 7
PIKES PEAK INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
FOUNTAIN, CO. JELLY BELLY 200
MATT CRAFTON, #88 FASTTRACK DRIVEWAY SEALER SILVERADO (starts 11th, eighth quick in happy hour) (Crafton is also running the Featherlite Southwest Series here this weekend): "I'm getting double the practice. Our Tour car isn't where we wanted it, but we're here to race the Silverado, and we brought the other car to have fun. But it hasn't been fun so far. We have a really good race truck. We've been running really consistent laps. We're probably one of the five best trucks on the long run. This is one of our best Silverados we had this year, comparable to Homestead. We had a really good truck there, dropped a cylinder in qualifying. We're starting 11th here tomorrow; we're happy with that. I wanted to qualify. We went out there and we were eighth fast in this last practice. I wasn't happy with my simulated qualifying run, ended up catching a slower truck. That slowed me down probably a tenth. I felt we could have been in the top five or top three. Last year when I raced the Southwest Tour here I didn't get to practice. They took me away in an ambulance. Got a kidney stone that morning. I'd never been here, my dad practiced the car and I qualified it. I got back at the end of practice, ran five laps and I had never seen the place, qualified fifth and ended up second in the race."
RANDY TOLSMA, #61 TEAM RENSI MOTORSPORTS SILVERADO (starts sixth, seventh quick in happy hour): "It's fine with me. This is our best qualifying effort of the year. Sixth will be a good starting position for us. I like the outside here. We're within sight of the leaders or the front starters. All those are good signs. We didn't have the Happy Hour we would have liked. We tried a lot of different options. I don't think we had a better truck than the one we unloaded. We will go back to the original setup and see what happens with this Team Rensi Silverado."
