CORBIN, Kentucky — 17 year-old Josh Brock is now two-for-two racing the #17 Brock Excavating / K&N Filters Late Model at Corbin Speedway in Corbin, KY.
Brock, who joined Sacramento, Calif. based Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle in 2010, has been splitting time between racing NASCAR Modifieds in California and Late Models in Kentucky.
Brock graduated from high school this last weekend as well, and seems poised to take on the racing world.
In qualifying, Brock recorded a lap of 14.058 seconds which was good enough for fourth on the board. After rolling the dice, Brock was on the pole for the 50 lap feature.
Brock led every lap of the feature and after some challenges in the first 20 laps he stretched his lead to almost three seconds on the field.
“I have to thank my parents Steve & Melinda Brock for supporting me, K&N Filers, and so many people who came together to get this car ready.”
Now Brock will turn his attention back to California. Brock races in the ultra-competitive NASCAR Modifieds at All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif. that has enjoyed car counts over 20 cars each week. He is third in the points standings.
“We keep getting better (in the Modified) and maybe we’ll get a win before long,” Brock said.
Driver coach Ron Sutton is excited to have Brock back in the seat.
“Momentum is on our side with Josh dominating in the Late Models,” Sutton said. “This week could be the race where he breaks through for his first Modified win!”
