The ASA (American Speed Association) Trucks return to the state-of-the-art motorsports complex known as Irwindale Speedway (CA) this Saturday for the second of three appearances this year on the ½-mile superspeedway.
"The next ASA Truck Series race for the 15-year-old Christian High School (El Cajon, CA) student will be back at Irwindale Speedway on July 10 before heading to back to the Las Vegas ‘Bullring’ in September."
Looking to better his past finishes, young-karting-champion Taylor Miinch will be rolling his No.20 Championship Karting International / Christian Stover Foundation / Alpinestars / King Taco Chevrolet Colorado on to the fast Southern California track fourth in point standings eager to turn his luck around and run up front after several mechanical challenges the past races. Running for 2010 ASA Truck Series Rookie-of-the-Year, Miinch is now up to second in rookie points.
Another full field of ASA drivers, with 13 pre-registered, will be thundering around the asphalt oval at speeds of over 105 miles per hour during their 75-lap main event. Miinch finished ninth out of 15 trucks last month at Irwindale after spinning between turn three and four while trying to avoid drifting into the leader. Chalk that up to another valuable learning experience for the rookie.
Irwindale Speedway has another full-menu of exciting racing this weekend with Super Late Models (twins ), SW Tour Truck Series, Legend Cars, Figure 8s, S2s and the ASA Trucks. The speedway is offering a special ‘FATHER'S DAY CELEBRATION’ allowing Dads and Kids 12 and under admitted FREE!!
Results at the last ASA truck race marked another disappointing finish with scorching 110-plus temperatures all weekend at the Las Vegas ‘Bullring’ June 5. Miinch was running on the lead lap and blew a motor on the final lap, just truck lengths before the finish line resulting in a seventh place finish.
Returning in support of the Taylor Miinch Motorsports racing program this weekend is King Taco, a long-time supporter of the Irwindale Speedway. Taylor and Raquel “Rocky” Martinez, daughter of co-owner Raul Martinez, race competitive go karts together in the CKI Series. “We are happy to promote King Taco any time we race at Irwindale as Raul and Luis Martinez do so much for many motorsport programs along with serving the ‘best tacos’ around,” said Chuck Miinch. Founded in 1974, King Taco began its operation from a converted ice cream truck. The Mexican fast food favorite has since expanded to 20 popular locations throughout Los Angeles County.
The next ASA Truck Series race for the 15-year-old Christian High School (El Cajon, CA) student will be back at Irwindale Speedway on July 10 before heading to back to the Las Vegas ‘Bullring’ in September.
Miinch returns to his Team Top Kart USA / De La O Miinch Motorsports P1 Engines powered go kart July 23-25 for Round Three of WSK North American Series by CKI at New Jersey where he goes into New Jersey second in TaG Senior standings.
The Alpine, CA racer started a new summer job this month. He is working at a steel fabrication shop owned by his crew chief, Kevin Clark. “Taylor is learning the many aspects of steel fabrication, like types and sizes of steel plus I want him to understand the process of how stairs and railings are fabricated. These are all important materials and processes used in building a race car chassis too,” stated Clark. Miinch said he is anxious to learn how to weld in a couple of months so that he can be certified to assist the CSF employees with producing some of the massive products like the company has fabricated the past 30 years.
Taylor Miinch and Miinch Motorsports would like to thank the following Sponsors, Companies and Associations for their sponsorship and returning support in 2010: CKI (Championship Karting International), Christian Stover Foundation, King Taco, Alpinestars, Crystal Cleaners, Jon Dell Construction, VP Racing Fuels, Grand Products, Top Kart, Charlie’s Hub Caps, Motul Oil and Image on Trak.

ABOUT THE CHRISTIAN STOVER FOUNDATION
Denny and Kim Stover established the Christian Stover Foundation in memory of their son. In life, Christian was a shining light and inspiration to so many both young and old, alike. His 16 years were filled with so many accomplishments, as he was a scholar, athlete, and accomplished race car driver. But most importantly, he had the most incredible spirit that touched so many people and he made friends wherever he went. He was humble and knew that life was short so he always lived it to the fullest. Christian's favorite quote was "It's not the length of life, but the depth of life," profound as it embodied his time here on earth perfectly. Christian was greatly influenced by the years he spent growing up in San Diego's East County and it is our hope that this fund established in Christian's name will be able to give back to the community that Christian was so proud to be a part of. Specifically, the foundation will grant scholarships and donate needed funds to the schools of San Diego's East County region.
