CORBIN, Kentucky — Kentucky standout Josh Brock piloted the K&N Filters Modified to second in qualifying and fifth in the main event, Saturday night at All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif.

The 17 year-old driver races for Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle based in Sacramento, Calif. and entered the night ranked third in the points standings out of 32 cars.

In qualifying, Brock recorded a time of 14.129 seconds at 76.439 miles per hour around the one-third mile asphalt oval. He was only a tick off of Western Modified legend Scott Winters’ pole winning time of 14.114.

The second fastest qualifying time seeded Brock fourth in the feature after a five car invert.

Brock finished third in his eight lap heat race before the 40 lap main later in the night.

Brock went toe-to-toe with the veteran drivers in the 18 car field, running third on the opening lap before falling back to fourth. He ran in line with the leaders until he was passed on lap 17.

He continued to challenge for fourth while also fighting off a mounting challenge from his teammate Nik Romano in sixth.

At the finish, Brock was just a few car lengths behind the fourth place car, which is owned by Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle crew chief Mikey Garcia. Positions fourth through seventh were all occupied by cars with association to RSWC.

The fifth place finish was Brock’s seventh in 10 starts in 2010. He has also accumulated two wins, both in Late Models, and a perfect 10 top-ten finishes.

He has a four-point advantage in the battle for third in the track points and also is moving up the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series division II standings.

“Josh has gone from being an early season surprise to a championship contender,” Driver Coach Ron Sutton said. “I can’t wait to see Josh in victory lane and it’s going to happen sooner rather than later!”
