DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — It's officially summer and short track racing is in full swing. Here is a look at what is happening over the next five days in ASA Racing. Many of the ASA Member Tracks will have fireworks displays as part of their racing program over the next three weekends.
ASA MIDWEST TOUR
(Madison International Speedway, Oregon, WI)
In it's five year history, The Swiss Colony All-Star Challenge presented by Rockweiler Insulation has been a stand alone Super Late Model event. This year, it is an ASA Midwest Tour sanctioned event and Matt Kenseth & Tony Stewart will be competing against the best Midwest Super Late Model drivers on Tuesday, June 29th. Gates open at noon, qualifying at 4 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.
ASA MIDWEST SPORTSMAN TOUR
(Elko Speedway, Elko, MN & Madison International Speedway, Oregon, WI)
The top Midwest Sportsman drivers will make their first trip to Minnesota this Saturday night to be a part of the Annual Thunderstruck 93 event. Chris Marek will be looking for his third win in a row in the series. They will then travel to Madison International Speedway on Tuesday, June 29th to run in support of The Swiss Colony All-Star Challenge event.
ASA INTERSTATE RACING ASSOCIATION SPRINT CAR SERIES
(Cedar Lake Speedway, New Richmond, WI)
It will be another busy weekend of traveling for the high-flying 410 Winged Sprints. On Friday, June 25th they will be competing at Kankakee Motor Speedway in Kankakee, IL then they will travel up to Wisconsin on Saturday, June 26th and compete at Sheboygan County Fair Park.
ASA MEMBER TRACKS
ACE SPEEDWAY (FIREWORKS!!!)
Join us this Friday, June 25th for The Summer Sizzler 225 with the Dick Shirley Chevrolet Late Models (100 laps), Chick-Fil-A Modifieds, Burlington Motors Limited Sportsman (Twin 20), King's Auto Salvage Extremes and Street Stocks. Fireworks are guaranteed to happen on and off the track. Admission prices are $10 for Adults, $5 for Seniors (65+) and Students with ID. Kids 12 and under are FREE!
BIG COUNTRY SPEEDWAY
The fastest asphalt track in Wyoming will host another great evening of racing this Saturday night. The Super Stocks, Mod-4's, Warriors, Micro Sprints, High Plains Mods, Mini Cups and Circle Drags will be in action. Racing starts at 6 p.m.
CORPUS CHRISTI SPEEDWAY
(Corpus Christi, TX)
The Bombers, Dwarfs, Front Runners, Sport Mods, Super Street, Texas Thunders will be in action this Saturday night. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. with racing at 8:00 p.m.
DELLS RACEWAY PARK
(Wisconsin Dells, WI)
The Mid-Season Championships will take place this Saturday night. The Late Models, Sportsman, Pure Stocks, Bandits, Six Shooters & Sport Trucks will be in action. Pits open at 2 p.m., Fan gates open at 4 p.m. with qualifying at 4:30 p.m. Racing at 6:30 p.m.
DESOTO SUPER SPEEDWAY
Another great night of racing is on tap at Desoto. The Outlaw Street Stocks, Truck Series, Modified Minis, Mini Stocks, Bombers, Street Stocks, Flying 4's and Magic 4's will all be in action. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and racing starts at 7:00 p.m.
DILLON MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Will return to action on Saturday, July 3rd with a full racing program and fireworks!!!
EAST BAY RACEWAY PARK
ASA Sanctioned racing returns to East Bay Raceway Park on Saturday, June 26, 2010 with the East Bay Sprints, Gagel's Open Wheel Modified, Limited Late Models, Precision Kia of Wesley Chapel Street Stocks, Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers, and the Old Time Modified.
GRAYS HARBOR RACEWAY
After Mother Nature prevented the racing action last Saturday night, Grays Harbor will be ready to go this Saturday night. The Sprints, Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, and Midgets will be in action.
HARTFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Hartford Motor Speedway will be back in action this Friday night after thunderstorms prevented their racing action last week. On tap is the S&S Agriculture 25 ALMS Late Models plus the UMP Modifieds and Pure Stocks. Front Gates open at 6 p.m., Hot Laps at 7:00 p.m. and Racing at 8 p.m.
It's a Street Stock 50-lap Shoot-Out this Saturday night! The Late Models, Hornets, Dwarfs, and Figure 8's will be in action. But that's not all...as Street Drags have also been added to this Saturday night's schedule.
ILLIANA MOTOR SPEEDWAY
The ASA Midwest Tour's Ninth Annual Elmer Musgrave Memorial 100 will highlight the full racing program this Saturday night. The Turbo Stocks and INEX Legend Cars will also be in action. Racing begins at 7:00 p.m.
INDE MOTORSPORTS RANCH
The road course will be open on Saturday and Sunday for the Inde Summer Pass Private Track Day.
LEBANON I-44 SPEEDWAY
Another great night of racing is on tap with a regular racing program and the Baby Grands in action. Gates opening at 5:00 p.m. and hot laps at 6:30 p.m. Racing begins at 7:30 p.m.
LONESOME PINE RACEWAY
Coeburn Home Center will be sponsoring the racing action this Saturday night along with it being Kids Night. A full racing program is scheduled with racing gets underway at 7 p.m.
MADISON INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY
Madison International Speedway in known for hosting a wide variety of racing divisions over the years, but none is as unique as what fans will see on Friday, June 25th when twelve area pastors and chaplains take to the famed "Ring of Fire" in a special racing event. The high flying pastors will join a full racing program that consists of the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models, Ho Chunk Area Sportsman, Club LaMark Hobby Stocks, Roto Rooter Bandits, and Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends and will be part of Construction Labor Management Night at the track. Racing begins at 7:30 p.m.
Another BIG event hits the freshly paved quarter-mile oval this Saturday night as the Rocky Mountain Challenge Series Late Models will be competing in the Treasure Valley 100. The Pepsi Sprint Cars, Street Stocks and Hornets will also be in action. Visit the track's website to find out where you can buy tickets in advance.
Round One of the Auto Value Bumper-to-Bumper Series is this Friday night with ASA Midwest Tour current Rookie leader Ross Kenseth competing. It's a full racing program with time trials at 6:00 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m.
ORANGE SHOW SPEEDWAY
(San Bernardino, CA)
Rookie driver Jeff Peterson, who got his first JAM Sportswear Late Model win two weeks ago at Orange Show Speedway, will try for two more Saturday night (June 26) when Best in the West Racing presents a pair of 50-lap main events for the class that is competing for the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship. Sharing the program will be the Interstate Batteries Factory Fours, the Budweiser Legends Cars, the M.C. Erectors Bandoleros and the Western Racing Association's vintage Sprint Cars and Midgets. Gates open to the public at 4 p.m., the on-track autograph session is from 5:50 to 6:30 p.m. and the first race is scheduled for 7 p.m.
RED RIVER SPEEDWAY
(North Wichita Falls, TX)
Racing this Saturday night! All regular classes will be in action and the bounty is back! $100 to the driver who beats the points leader and wins!
ROCKY MOUNTAIN RACEWAYS
(West Valley City, UT)
Rocky Mountain Raceways oval racers are eager to return to the ultra-fast oval after a rain out two weeks ago. The heated points chase in the Maverik Modifieds and Young Automotive Rocky Mountain Sprint Series will also resume with mere points separating the leader boards. #30 Nick Parker leads the Maverik Modifieds with a 35 point lead over #7 Bryan Wordelman. #00 Jimmy Wysong leads the Young Automotive Rocky Mountain Sprint Series with a 20 point lead over #24 Jimmy. Other classes running include Focus Midgets, Figure 8 Cars and Western States Equipment Figure 8 Trains.
Gates open at 4pm. Qualifying begins at 5pm and racing starts at 6pm. Adult admission is $15 and youth (5-12) are $5.
SHANGRI LA II MOTOR SPEEDWAY
(Tioga Center, NY)
Shangri-La II Motor Speedway has become known for unpredictability, but nothing in the track's first year of operation can top Crazy George's Concrete Craziness this Saturday, June 26. The green flag drops on the ASA Member Track Program and an evening of four-wheeled entertainment unlike anything you'll see elsewhere at 5:00 p.m.
There will be plenty of action this Saturday night. Along with the great Sprint Car and Outlaw Hornet action, there will also be a Small Car Demolition Derby and crazy stunts by Mr. Dizzy & Josh the Crusher including the World Famous - Banned in Arkansas Flying Bus Stunt Jump! Grandstands open at 5:30 p.m. with events starting at 7 p.m.
SOUTHERN OREGON SPEEDWAY
This Saturday night is Rogue Regency Inn and Suites Night at the Races. The Late Models, Pro Stocks, Super 4's, Dwarfs, Mini Stocks, and Thrill Cars are in action. Grandstands open at 4:00 p.m. with racing at 6:00 p.m.
STATE PARK SPEEDWAY
Thursday night action returns tonight with the Flip Merwin Memorial 75-Lap feature for the Super Late Models plus Support Divisions. $1 from each ticket sale goes the Flip Fund. Plus Drink Specials in the Pavilion and snowmobile displays.
Returns to action on Saturday, July 17th.
TUCSON RACEWAY PARK
It will be a historical night this Saturday night as it will be the last asphalt race at TRP as they are planning on switching to a dirt track. Double Points and Double Features with champions being crowned. Plus the return of the The Super Soaker Enduro and a $500 to win Boat and Trailer Race. Wow!
VIRGINIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor Speedway will host Chandler Chevrolet Night at the Races this Saturday June 26th. The night's activities will include all four divisions of Army National Guard Dirt Series action. Competitor gates for Saturday, June 26th will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 4pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Admission price for Adults $10, seniors $8; military $5, students 13 - 17 years old $7, children 7 - 12 years old $4 and children 6 and under admitted free.
Sevcik Motorsport Race Engines sponsors the racing action this Saturday night with a $1,000 to win Modified feature plus Street Stocks, Mini Sprints, and Fearless 4's in action. Grandstands open at 5 p.m.
