SACRAMENTO, California — Often times heading back to the spot where it all began often provides an opportunity to reset perspective and provide a benchmark of progress. Josh Combs makes his return to Irwindale Speedway this weekend for the King Taco 200. Combs made his debut in the series at the So-Cal venue earlier this year at the All Star Shootout. Combs performed extremely well in his qualifying effort for the shootout and was running in the top ten toward the end of the event.
"I have a good amount of laps in my tour car around this place, I have run about five events at Irwindale and one of those was in the current K&N series. I am still getting better at this track every time."— Josh Combs
Combs heads back to a familiar intermediate track for the series, which plays into the young driver’s current skill sets. “I have a good amount of laps in my tour car around this place, I have run about five events at Irwindale and one of those was in the current K&N series. I am still getting better at this track every time.” The young driver from Sacramento has had his rookie luck challenged this year. “The Infineon result was not what I had hoped for , we were running in the top ten of that race and trying to avoid someone else’s error in that section of the track just did not have any good consequences.”
Combs is looking to bounce back at this event. With some recent personnel adjustments the team is looking to get back into the points hunt and Rookie of the year Contention. The GrapeKing/Giumarra Vineyards team sits in eleventh place in the points standings for the
K & N West Series.
