EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY SET FOR THE 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND DOUBLEHEADER

MONROE, Washington — The 2010 4th of July weekend at Evergreen Speedway will be busy. Starting on Saturday July 3rd the circle tracks and figure eight will be used. The NASCAR Whelen All American Series Super Late Models and Street Stocks are on the big 5/8-mile oval. The Foster Press mini-Stocks are on the 3/8-mile oval while the popular Stinger 8 division is on the fast figure eight surface. On Sunday July 4th it is the Annual Giant Demolition Derby and Fireworks extravaganza. The smashing, crashing, blow-it-up or burn it down night features School Bus Races, Roll-Over Contest, Boat Races, Cub Scout Hornets, Renegade V-8’s, Suicide Car Explosion, Bus Jump and ‘The Beast’ Jet Dragster all followed by a Giant Demo Derby and the Eastside’s largest Fireworks Display.

The two NASCAR premier divisions, Super Late Models and Street Stocks, are back on the big track for more championship action. Both divisions’ point leaders have been successful on the big track. Super Late Model driver Tom Moriarity will have stiff competition as the lure of the big track draws in former champions and other top Northwest aces. Lane Sundholm the Street Stock point leader will need to have a good night to keep his closest rivals for the 2010 championship at bay as they start the second half of the season.

The Foster Press Mini-Stock division has a new point leader after last week’s win by Scott LaCross. LaCross took over the lead from Jon Roberts. The points for the top four are tightly bunched.

Steve Peters the current leader of the Stinger 8 division lost a few points last week and will need to stay on top of things in this anything can happen on a figure eight group.

Sunday’s annual event is the Speedways and Snohomish Counties largest attended sporting venue. With good weather expected overflow crowds are expected. It will not be boring with continual smashes, crashes, stunts and melt downs to entertain the mixed age crowd.

Both days the front gates open at 5pm and action gets its start at 7pm. For ticket sales call 360-805-6100.
