BYRD SET TO CONTINUE CELEBRATING TWO FOURTH OF JULYS
Dave Byrd -- 2009

This years fourth of July celebration for west coast racer Dave Byrd started last weekend with a last minute call to drive Bob Strandwold’s fourth car of his large stable of cars in The Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series lapsforlittleones.com 125 held at Madera Speedway on June 26th as part of the weekend that Madera Speedway set aside to celebrate Independence Day for the United States of America and that same spirit of celebration will now carry over to this coming Saturday, July 3rd as Dave Byrd will pilot Rodney Qualls’ #78 car in Stockton 99 Speedway’s Firecracker 150.

"We always go to the track to win and have a great time while doing it! That is what makes racing with this team as good, if not better, than most situations out there!"Dave Byrd

The fireworks flew at Madera Speedways Independence Day celebration last Saturday, June 26th, but luckily for Dave Byrd they were part of the speedway’s planned celebration. Dave Byrd’s ride for the night wasn’t without its issues though, as part of the last minute preparations of the car left a lot to be desired, but a fighting independent spirit was the theme for the night and that’s what Dave Byrd and his band of backwoods hooligans, farmers and true American patriots were about to show. Starting near the back of the field didn’t leave the crew with much of a choice, but to convince the driver to pit for changes. Three pit stops later, another call went out to Dave as to; “how the car felt?” Dave’s response was “It feels pretty good to be passing cars and not just hanging on for dear life!” The run ended fairly successful with a seventh place finish out of the 26 cars that came to the track to race. “We probably have one guy from every team I’ve raced with over the last few years here with us tonight”, beamed an elated Dave Byrd. “It wasn’t looking too good for us there for a while, but I love when a plan comes together”, laughed Byrd!

This coming Saturday evening, July 3rd, Dave Byrd will continue in the racing world’s Fourth of July Independence Celebration by racing at Stockton 99 Speedway in what should be 150 laps of speed, endurance and if all goes right victory in the Firecracker 150! “Rod (Qualls) is a great guy and has a great group of people that are around him,” stated Dave. “We always go to the track to win and have a great time while doing it! That is what makes racing with this team as good, if not better, than most situations out there!”
