ERIC HOLMES AT TOYOTA SPEEDWAY; THE TWO-TIME WEST SERIES CHAMPION INCREASES POINTS LEAD

ANTELOPE, California — Bill McAnally Racing’s Eric Holmes continues to increase his points lead in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West after racing last Saturday night at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, California. Piloting the No. 20 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota Camry, Holmes came away with another top-ten finish. Holmes put the NAPA entry in the top-five during both practices but qualified the No. 20 in 12th for the King Taco “200”.

"Holmes would fight hard moving as high as seventh with 70 laps to go but would take the checkered flag in tenth."

“I don’t know what happened,” said Holmes. “The car felt great but it didn’t reflect it on the time charts.”

A determined Holmes only took one lap to move into the top-ten as the 200-lap race got under way. During the first caution, Holmes reported to crew chief Matt Goslant that the No. 20 was difficult to turn in the middle of the corners and later that there was no side grip. At the mandatory break at lap 100, the team made adjustments to accommodate the ever changing short track. Holmes would fight hard moving as high as seventh with 70 laps to go but would take the checkered flag in tenth.

The two-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Champion increased points lead after the King Taco “200” Saturday night to 64 ahead of David Mayhew.

King Taco “200” will be presented by SPEED Channel on Thursday July 8th at 3 pm PST. Check your local listings.

The next event on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West schedule is the Bi-Mart Salute to the Troops 125 at Portland (Ore.) International Raceway on July 18. Last season, Holmes qualified on the front row at this historic road course and brought home the No. 20 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota in seventh. This will be series second visit to Portland International Raceway in recent years. Prior to last year, the series last visit was in 1986.
