PETTIT II LEADS SRL TO TOYOTA SPEEDWAY

PRUNEDALE, California — Jim Pettit II, the 2008 SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series champion and current points leader, heads up a field of some twenty-four entries for the sixth race of the 2010 SRL season at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale for the ‘SPEARS Manufacturing 100’ Saturday night.

Not only is he the current point leader, he is also coming off of a four- race streak of top- three finishes including a win at the last event at Madera Speedway three weeks ago in which he inherited the points lead.

The win at Madera also tied Pettit for the most wins in the 10 year history of the SRL, at nine. The record is co-held by the late 2005 SRL champion, Jeff Anthony.

No stranger to Toyota Speedway, Pettit has had some ups-and-downs at the half-mile oval, having raced there for some eleven times in the former NASCAR Southwest Series with his last win in that series coming in 2005 when he won his second straight Series championship. His last win at Toyota Speedway came in 2008 when he won the SRL championship. Last year at the track, Pettit’s best finish was a thirteenth in two starts. “We certainly hope to improved on that Saturday night, and if we do what we’re capable of doing, as we have in the last four races, we will”, said the Prunedale driver.

Driving the blue and yellow #03 Ford Fusion sponsored by Golden Gate Petroleum, Top of the Hill Performance, bizzwithbuzz.com, Mo’s Gold, and Swift Springs, you can learn all about Jim and his sponsors on his website at jimpettitracing.com, which also has links to the SRL, as well as RacingWest, where you can keep up-to-date on all things racing.
