
SONOMA, California — The NHRA Division 7 Drag Races, presented by Korbel, return to Infineon Raceway this weekend, July 23-25, as more than 500 drag racers from the western United States compete on the Infineon Raceway quarter-mile drag strip.
The race is the fourth of six slated for the Pacific Division and will feature drag racing in eight categories, including Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car. Competitors will battle for points leading to divisional and national championships, as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $560,000.
West Covina’s Steve Gasparrelli returns as the defending Sonoma champion in Top Alcohol Funny Car. He’ll look for his fourth Sonoma victory after claiming wins in 2001 and 2002. Utah’s Cody Perkins is the defending champion in Top Alcohol Dragster
The division’s Pacific Division Top Sportsman Series, Hughes Performance Top Dragster Series and Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley Davidson will also run in conjunction with the event.
Gates open at 7 a.m. Friday and Saturday and at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Qualifying and time trials are slated Friday and Saturday, with final eliminations beginning on Saturday afternoon and continuing on Sunday at 8 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car final eliminations begin at noon on Sunday.
Tickets for the NHRA Division 7 Drag Races, presented by Korbel, are $5 Friday, $20 Saturday and $20 Sunday. Children 12 and under are admitted free and parking is free.
