LAS VEGAS – The Formula DRIFT Series will return to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Aug. 20-21 for the Back-to-School Bash doubleheader. Formula DRIFT competes on a specially-prepared course – the fastest track on the Formula DRIFT circuit – in The Strip’s pit area. Drag racing, Monster Trucks and Jet Cars will thrill the fans on the quarter mile.
Tanner Foust won last year’s Las Vegas event in his Rockstar/Hankook Scion Racing tC. Foust also won the series’ most recent event, July 10 at Monroe, Wash., over Ireland’s Dan McNamara. Foust stands second in the point standings to Vaughn Gittin.
The international drifting series attracts the top competitors from the U.S., Japan, Ireland and Sweden.
“Las Vegas continues to be one of the top destinations for the circuit,” said Ryan Sage, vice president of marketing and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. “We had another sold out event last year and we're seeing a real chase for the championship.”
The drifting event also includes the ever-popular Bikini Jam, a car show and manufacturers’ midway. The Monster Truck event at the drag strip is headlined by the legendary Bigfoot.
