ROLLING THUNDER BIG RIGS INVADE GRAYS HARBOR RACEWAY

The Rolling Thunder Big Rigs invade Grays Harbor Raceway this Saturday Night for their only visit of the year. Last year was the first year that the Rig Rigs competed at Grays Harbor Raceway and they put on an excellent show in front of a packed grandstand. Also competing Saturday Night will be the Shipwreck Beads Modifieds, Cut Rate Hobby Stocks and the Hornets. Tickets are on sale now by either going online or calling the office. Grays Harbor Raceway is an ASA Member Track located at the Fairgrounds in Elma, Washington.

The Rolling Thunder Big Rigs are full blown Diesel powered Race Trucks that race all over the Northwest, mostly on paved tracks. This will only be the second time that they have raced on dirt in the State of Washington, the first time being at Grays Harbor last year. The excitement is unreal as these diesel pushing monsters race side by side on the fast 3/8’s mile clay oval.

This will be the last tune up for the Shipwreck Beads Modified drivers as they try and get their cars dialed in for the 11th Annaul Shipwreck Beads Modified Nationals next weekend. In the local Modified point standings, 2009 Champion Josh Muller moved into the top spot by winning the feature the last time out and leads Scott Miller from Shelton by seven points 752 to 745. Still in striking distance in third position is Craig Moore from Seabeck with 690 points followed by Jim Oien Jr. from McCleary and Aberdeen’s Joe German who are tied for fourth with 633 points.

In the Cut Rate Hobby Stock division Aberdeen’s Zack Simpson picked up another win last time out and extended his point lead to 80 points over team mate Jack Parshall Jr., who is in second with 698 points. Tom Sweatman from Cosmopolis moved past Olympia’s Eddie Blood and sits in third six points back of Parshall at 692, Blood slipped back to fourth with 682 points. Spanaway’s Tom Hecker the top Rookie of the year contender moved into the top five for the first time this season and has 659 points.

Next weekend Friday July 30th & Saturday July 31st is the 11th Annual Shipwreck Beads Modified Nationals, two big nights of racing with the top Modified drivers on the West Coast. Tickets are on sale now by going online or calling the office.

The front gates open at 4:30 pm, qualifying at 5:30 and racing to start around 6:30.
